Robots are now widspread in mainstream society, appearing in a wide variety of forms and functions.* Androids are especially popular among the elderly, widowed and those who are disabled or incapacitated – in which role they serve as companions, guides and carers. They are also popular amongst the lonely and socially anxious, who can develop relationships without the fear or hang-ups normally associated with human company.* Those seeking "alternative" lifestyles are also making use of androids.*

The first space elevator is becoming operational

The idea of a space elevator had been around as early as 1895, when Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky first explored the concept. Inspired by the newly-built Eiffel Tower, he described a free-standing structure reaching from ground level into geostationary orbit. Rising some 36,000 km (22,000 mi) above the equator and following the direction of Earth's rotation, it would have an orbital period of exactly one day and thus be maintained in a fixed position.

Bros, forget about "niche marketers"

We're now Narrowcasters

Awwww yea

Also called niche marketing or target marketing, narrowcasting involves aiming media messages at specific segments of the public defined by values, preferences, demographic attributes, and/or subscription. Narrowcasting is based on the postmodern idea that mass audiences do not exist.

I wonder if the law will speed up by then. It's about the most unpredictable element of all this technology that'll be coming out. (Mostly looking at self driving cars).

Fuck yeah, alternative vehicle developer.

I've been playing with arduino and it's the tits. I linked it up with Unity to rotate a servo by rotating an airplane in game, I want to make a pan/tilt gaming chair, and willing to spend $5k+ to make it happen.

I feel like a caveman who just discovered fire. I ordered muscle flex sensors, heart rate sensors, and a bunch of shit to incorporate into a simulator. So flex your guns(biceps) to fire in game, increase speed/intensity in game based on heart rate, etc.

It amazes me how accessible this stuff is to the average joe...you can buy FLIR (thermal imaging), LIDAR (accurate measurement laser), etc any sensor you want for under a hundred bucks.

Needless to say, the future is fast approaching...

Very optimistic.

Add 50-60 years to all these estimations.

We still using chemotherapy which is a 100 year old treatment, and you think you'll be able to contact a "body part maker" by 2030? LOL

Heres the problem

Humans are lazy, everything we do is designed to make our lives easier and as we get more and more advanced we're finding out better and better ways to be lazy. This is a negative feedback loop because the more technology we have the more we use it to find excuses for not doing the stuff that's hard. In 1980 everyone thought we would have flying cars and houses on the moon and we probably would for it not the invention of solitaire and reality television. Somebody has the cure to cancer in his/her head but they're too busy playing angry birds and creeping on their classmates on facebook to do much about it.

I'm not sure about that Space Elevator, I don't think it's a good idea.

I want to know if the people behind the one way trip to Mars, can pull it off. They're saying that they plan to send the 1st batch to Mars 10 years from now.

I wonder what the rules are regarding fucking your associates traveling with you.

And on that note, I would ask to see pics of the women that are going along because I'm not gonna be stuck on a planet with only uggos.
