Gas Prices wtf

You can also drive through multiple countries in an hour. It takes me 45 minutes just to get to a movie theater.

How is that relevant?

Your gas should cost less because you drive further distances? That's the stupidest shit I've ever heard.

$4 to travel 20-40 miles to an exact location while on my own schedule still seems like a good deal to me.

The bus is $3 each way here during rush hour even if you are not going far plus you still have to be on their schedule and walk to/from bus stops.

Try plugging "More oil / petroleum products on the market" into supply and demand and see what you get. Hint: lower prices.

Unlikely. You forget that the US dollar is heavily supported by the PetroDollar.

It's currently in the US Treasury, Washington, and Big Oil's interest to keep gas prices high so that they can print more money to help keep the US running, prevent the public from becoming aware of how fucked up the Economy is, and turn more profit in the process.

Should oil prices drop below $3 for long, then the vast amount of recently printed money's effect on the economy will be felt in force. This is why Gas hasn't come down into the mid-$2 range for more than a few weeks at a time since Obama has been in office, despite crude prices being $30/barrel cheaper than when prices first jumped up between $2-$4 a few years ago.

middle east wars aren't about creating more supply, they're about controlling the market. also, how would the govt(s) ever get their alternative energy plans going if gas/oil prices fell considerably? alternative energy isn't about saving the environment, it's just another revenue stream. they must manufacture demand by controlling the market.

well, you do know that Saudi's need a lot of money right now and the Iranians are real busy trying to build nukes so they could dictate oil prices, with these guys calling the shots prices are always gonna go up, unless some US president would actually do something about it, which he will not.

Logical Fallacy.

There is only "speculation" that Iran is building nukes. Even if they were, it wouldn't necessarily be to control oil prices. It would likely be to prevent other countries from trying to control Iran's actions.

You are also assuming that it's another country's fault for the price we pay for oil. It's not. We export MORE oil than we import, because it's cheaper to buy internationally AND ship it here, so that US oil companies can turn more profit.

If you really wanted cheaper oil, then you could just require that US-based oil companies should be required to sell a percentage of oil drilled directly to the American public if the drilling is on government-owned lands. Currently this does not happen as it should.

Why would you want to invade another country? You could take even 1% of the money used on a war and subsidize the nation's oil prices and get a larger effect than the cost of the war and the short decline in prices should a war happen.

Of course American oil should be used in the US, and of course it will not happen.

As to the "speculation" that Iran is building nukes, hmm... when will you know for sure? I guess they need to nuke someone first. Just the time they took to get a nuclear setup, and the amount of work would have already resulted in clean peaceful nuclear industry, however it looks like they just keep going.

And they will use that to take control over everyone in their reach when they will have their bomb. Middle eastern politics are slow and very calculated, and they got nothing to do with the West type of politics.

I sure did not say anything about war or invasion, actually think that the last thing the US needs is another economic bloody war on its hands. Iran should implode, its people should get those basters who run the country, dip them in oil and...

Gas prices are a product of a better global economy and more people around the World have traded in their bicycles for automobiles. It is not just a North America, Europe and Australia market for gas/petro anymore.

Why don't you look at the cost per mile instead of the cost per gallon. If the price really bothers you then buy a car that gets 40 mpg and you still have your $.10 per mile at $4.00 a gallon. @ $2 a gallon for a car that gets 20 mpg it is $.10.

better yet, if you really want to know what it costs to drive then look at the estimated total cost of ownership for your vehicle. The cost of a gallon of gas doesn't mean much. /thread

as if that would make gas prices cheaper. idiot.

Perhaps it would. When retards like you go to war and come back dead, gas prices fall dramatically. It's simple: less demand, more supply. :evil_laughter:
