B) WHAT THE FUCK?! Do you even read what you write? Even if a civil union gives gays all the benefits of a real marriage, by denying them the right to call it as such is implying that there is something about them that makes them undeserving of it. Oh, and further more, just like civil union might be another name for marriage, negro is just another name for a black person, but that doesn't make it ok to use.

So do gay people want equal rights, or do they just want to use the term "marriage" because they know it will make all of the religious people uncomfortable?

I could give a fuck less, but the Bible is pretty fucking clear about marriage being between a man and his female property. It's also pretty clear about homosexuality. Marriage is at root, a religious institution, and has only been co-opted by the state for tax reasons. Gays should be happy with a civil union. I'm straight and would prefer a civil union to a marriage, since I am not religious and would never want a pastor "blessing" my union since I give two fucks about his opinion of me or my relationship. Marriage should be a religious contract, and civil unions should be an official government contract. Keep the marriages in the Churches, Mosques and Temples and keep the civil unions in the city halls.

Perhaps the recent backlash towards homosexuals has more to do with people resenting them for not being happy with civil unions, when the whole point of their argument originally was supposed to be about property distribution, visitation rights etc., and not about semantics. Fuck em - you want to push people's buttons, then expect their resentment. I don't feel sorry for them at all. Next time be happy with equal treatment and stop trying to push your beliefs on everyone else. The Christians are bad enough with that shit, but the gays are right there with them.

The only thing I can think of is simply that some groups feel that "civil unions" can be tweaked not to provide the same type of rights/benefits/etc that someone with a "marriage license" would have. So by making it legal to the extent that the paperwork is identical means they can't discriminate by changing around what civil union gives versus what "legally married" gives, especially if you seek state aid.

So the homsexuals are wasting millions of tax payer dollars and causing all this trouble to "officially" call a civil union a "marriage"?

You do understand that this "very important" agenda threatens to undermine several serious laws that the US has on the books?

If two men can marry why not 1 man and three women? but if the two gay men can marry why not the farmer and his cow?

This "VERY IMPORTANT" law that allows gays to call themselves married when legally they allready are is a pandoras box.

I know a couple of heavily religious gay dudes, and it means alot to them to be able to "marry". Religion is cancer on society, a big contradictory cancer.

I don't understand why the religious groups have to be offended when two meats meet (lol), and even if they are, they should keep it to themselves. This is America for goodness sake. Religious or non-religous, people should be treated equally. and you do not call a black person a negro if you're a red-neck white trash, it carries certain implication that isn't very respectable.

It doesn't make it ok for a black person to call another black person negro though but I guess it's not (as) offensive in this case.

The real question is this - why is the government in the business of recognizing marriage anyway? There nothing that comes from it that can't be covered by simple contractual agreements.

Unless, of course, there's money in it for the government ...hint hint hint.

Real conservatives should vote to make marriage a completely private affair not controlled in any respect by the government. That would solve all the problems.
