Holy fuck working on the new retina 5k imac is so much better. Text looks clear and easy to read like a book. Especially when used with f.lux and a low brightness setting. No more eye strain. Its a no brainer if you spend - 8 - 12 hours a day online. I can actually finish entire wikipedia articles now without my eyes killing me.

Why don't they go back to making Cinema Displays with matte screens. I love mirrors like the next man does, but I don't want to look at myself 10 hours a day.

Just joshin (LOL), worked for 3 years on iMac 27, aside from having a big mirror in front of me I liked the screen and the space.

Pls post some casual browsing / working desktop so we can see the splendor. I'm trying to get a new monitor, I'm also needing it for video editing, and couple of websites are telling me not to get 4K yet...which doesn't make sense...why not get it, by the end of next year every phone will have 4K...but i don't want to buy some shitty panel type of monitor, some good IPS panel without that fucking touch.
 
For those of you wanting to avoid the Apple faggotry, Dell has released a 27 inch Ultrasharp IPS 5k (5120 x 2880) running at 8ms http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&sku=UP275K3. I read it was supposed to be sub $2,000, so you'll probably find it cheaper at other retailers and not off the Dell site. Great for colour work, not so great for gaming.

Personally, I am waiting for the new 32" Asus ProArt PA328Q 4K which should drop sometime this month. First monitor to come with HDMI 2.0, but you'd still want to use the display port.

It's a lot like other 32" 4K IPS panels coming out. I hope it's 6ms or less (the BenQ 32" 4K IPS is 4ms) and so should be good for both colour work and gaming. Expecting it to be about $1500-$1700, plus a couple new GTX 980s to drive the thing.

All these 32" are using the same panels from what I understand, with each manufacturer tweaking the hardware and software.
 
God dammit shits getting insane with 32" people will develop sore necks, working on those monitors like watching Wimbledon match

Dells 24 inch 4k is amazing i have it paired with my windows gaming rig.

Lots of people are working on dual or triple 24"s. I'm on a Dell 24" Ultrasharp now in the center, with an old Viewsonic 21" to the right for Skype, Pidgin, browser previews, etc. so I don't think it'll be so bad. An extra 4" to either side with the second monitor to the right as it is now will be sweet.

No doubt it looks fantastic, it's a pro colour monitor, but it's a bit slow for gaming at 8ms though. What video card(s) are you using?

295 x2 because of the 8gb ram
 
Samsung U28d590 4k 27" display for a decent price. Matt not glossy. Paired with a macbookpro retina runs at 60hz with no issues.
 
My 2010 21" iMac is just fine for me. Size doesn't matter - at least that's what my wife says anyway...
 
Apple confuses me in the monitor dept - my trusty 30" Cinema Display has been great for years. But why seemingly stop making and updating displays?
