I now have been officially introduced to what it feels like and potentially costs when you hesitate. Yesterday early morning I did a little research on a particular keyword phrase and I actually posted in the hosting/domains area about this matter....I discovered the domain was not taken...and I guess I can announce here since it is taken....dragonrazr.com(I was thinking about it because I just got one)....For some fucking reason I hesitated to secure the domain name...So, I go to get it today...granted a few fucking hours later, and it was taken... some people located in the bahamas or some shit got it according to whois..and they have already launched an adsense and ringtone pop up ad campaign. Good for them, they deserve it on account of my fucking stupidity.....I will definitely learn from this. My brother in law one time lost out on 20K on a stock trade because he listened to his broker and not this instincts....a broker makes you broker by the way...
anyway I am just fucking pissed at myself because of this...Ironically I am believer that you have to go with your instincts...I am going to go break some shit now.....peace.

Stop meddling with ringtones and phone keywords.. you have a lot of research to do on helping people who sustain trauma or injuries from sticking foreign objects and rodents up their assholes.

yeah your right...I guess I should register assrazr.com and build a campaign on what not to do with your ass, and then sell my ass repair solutions within the site...or maybe do an ebook:) (just kidding)

by the way I just listened to webmaster radio and your interview with the hosts of affiliate thing....yeah you hate ebooks.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the big deal with this domain name?

Well, as you know the Razr is a pretty popular cell phone....many makes have entered the market i.e. pink razr, red razr(aids awareness), and recently the miami tatoo design version of the razr came out called the dragon razr or silver dragon razr because it has an etch of a dragon on it, and it is a silver phone. DragonRazr is pretty fucking specific I would say...and yes the search volume is picking up on it because it is a newer product and the market is getting acquianted.

So what is the big deal??????

I guess I am the dumb fuck.

Sidewinder, i had the same fucking thing man i went to register a domain yesterday for a niche i wanted, free 24 hours ago and now its facking registered, did a whois and yeah the same facking owner somewhere in the bahamas. What with that, i was using my own namecheap access too?

If you see that a domain name you want is free, snag it up then. Don't see if it's free before you are ready to buy. If I'm not mistaken, these domainers monitor sites and snatch up domains that are searched for that may have the chance of type-in traffic if they are not immediately registered.

Try for your domain within a couple of days. With any luck, they will just drop the domain after the rescind period.

Agreed, I heard a lot of speculation about whois.sc doing this. Not to mention it happened to me a few times through them.

Yay, experienced the same, either register it immediately or it's gone, it's not just whois.sc, seen this phenomenon on many other occasions.

Thats exactly what it is. Watch it for 5-10 days or whatever the 'trial period' is and then try to reg it.

Theyll whois your domains.. then reg them. Be careful.

Yeah, wait 5 days and then see if it is available.

I had this happen recently and the domain name was back on the market in 5 days like it had never been registered.

The domain I tried to register had ads on it for 5 days, but when I went to register it, it was available.

Domain tasters. They have software that snatches these domains and runs ads on them for the "free" 5 days.

Not sure who is snagging all of the whois requests. The reason they can do this with every request is through whats been called domain kiting. A registrar can get a domain, and then cancel it within a certain period without paying. From what I understand its allowed because they still have money on deposit with Verisign to do this.

The post Bob Parsons made about this over a year ago showed that only 8% of domain registrations for May 2006 were legit and paid, everything else was "kited" domains. I suspect there are probably just a handful of people behind this.

the domain name system seems so fucking corrupt.. why is this even allowed by icann or whoever is in charge.

heres how it works:

they put up a whois site that monitors all whois queries into the site. if they get any good ones that are available (remember they really are whoising these and returning them back to you) then they register them and throw ads on them

if they get alot of type in traffic, they know its a keeper.

they have 5 days to determine this and then, after that, they cant return the domain anymore. theres like a 5 (or 10?) day period where you can register a domain and turn around and return it and its put back onto the market.

bottom line USE A TRUSTED WHOIS. DONT JUST GOOGLE FOR ONE OR USE ANY RANDOM ONE!

ive searched damn near thousands of domains through whois.hm quickly, efficiently, and safely. i got it off a recommendation on this board (or maybe another domainer board). search if you dont believe me.
