Google, Amazon, Facebook and Twitter Shut DOWN to Boycott SOPA?

Reading your posts... it's like you almost "get it" but not quite. This whole thing is about capturing and oppressing society, and not just in some arbitrary manner. It's very sophisticated and orchestrated
Oh I fully see the intent to repress here. I get that, honestly. What I don't see is how those doing the repressing have already amassed enough power to do so, in the face of this unprecedented resistance.

Exactly how powerful are you talking about here? Are people behind this conspiracy so powerful that they can simply do away with google and facebook and every company on the anti-sopa list and no one will be able to complain about it?

I think not.

They still govern by the will of the sheeple. If the sheeple's water temperature hasn't been turned up enough yet then as we know they will happily be boiled eventually... But what you're suggesting is akin to setting off a nuke inside the pot! The Sheeple will NOT stand for Google and friends to pull up and leave america... And since google already left china for pretty much exactly this reason, they're honor-bound to uproot and leave America totally if SOPA or PIPA or a similar bill in the future passes.

So here's what I'm thinking Google, Facebook, and other top sites should do:

1. Put together a nice, 2-minute video exposing how the US congress extorts businesses and are doing so in this case.

2. Replace their front pages with a blank film and that video for 3 or 5 hours the day before the vote... They wouldn't need to lose 24 hours worth of revenue, just enough for people to spread the word and see it for themselves.

3. At the bottom of the page a small link says: "Outraged by this problem? Click here."

4. The link goes to a petition for a new amendment to the constitution like the one that Wolf-pac is always harping about, to keep money out of congress.

Just imagine if most everyone who was annoyed by the loss of Google, Facebook, and Amazon for the day all signed such an amendment at the same time!

I like the idea here but the part thats going to suck is the new amendment part. Any new amendment is going to be bad (just a matter of how bad). But this is how the US Gov works. Congress is going to compromise w/ these company's to make sure they are not to financially affected. Whatever that compromise is, its going to be worse than what we have today. Its not going to go away its just going to have a different mask on.

GGRRRRRRRRR....

How in the FUCK can an amendment clearly stating that there is to be no more Lobbying, campaign contribution, PACs and other bribery from anyone at all be "Bad?"

Bad for the corrupt politicians, I grant you, but not so bad for the rest of us.

If that were to pass then yes, it would be a big shake-up in washington but that's EXACTLY what we need... Don't run from it, embrace it!

The only remaining way for any entities to bribe elected officials would be totally-illegal, under-the-counter shady shit that wouldn't fly under anyone's radar when caught.

Is that what you really think is going to happen? There is not a chance in hell that's ever going to happen. I was actually referring to the changed SOPA amendment, whats going to happen is they are going to compromise and while still imposing new limitations that don't exist today. Its the only thing that can happen. There is to much money on the line and to many company's involved and kicking money to the top, its the only thing that can and will happen. Anything else is just pure fantasy

...We'll see.

Nobody as big & powerful as Google has ever been so blatantly extorted before when they have the power to do something about it.

What makes you think this is even in the realm of possibility? Source?
The only thing they can do is get this bill changed or temporarily killed which they will be successful at. They are going to be successful by doing what people do when they want something done in Washington. Google is never ever ever ever going to change how Washington works they just don't have the power. What are they going to do? Run adwords ads saying Washington is corrupt? Whats new

Lobbying, campaign contribution, PACs and other bribery are the tools that Google and company are going to use to kill this particular bill. If they even tried to stop these activities, SOPA passing as is would be the best thing they could hope for. If they even brought it up you would see bipartisan support all through out Washington to kill Google or anyone else that gets in the way. Washington will win and we would be forced to used Bing.

That really is THE question. I would like to think that your're correct, that they don't have the power needed to dominate totally. Maybe that's the case, but if history is any indication, then it's certainly in the realm of possibility. One thing's for sure.. They are certainly going to TRY. Sooo many things going on that are propelling us in the direction of a straight up fucking policia state.

Cenk's film above + logic. I do not claim that it's PROBABLE, only possible.

The only thing they can do is get this bill changed or temporarily killed which they will be successful at.
That's the blackout. My plan went further to target the bigger problem, and has a tiny chance of working.

What are they going to do? Run adwords ads saying Washington is corrupt?
That wasn't in my plan at all. You seem to have a reading comprehension problem.

LOL!

Picture this:

You're surfing off of WF for a moment to buy some ass lube. You head over to Amazon but low and behold, NO AMAZON!

SOME FUCKER HAS TAKEN YOUR ONLINE SHOPPING AWAY!

In it's place there is a 1-2 minute film describing why this is happening, and says to not bother going to google, facebook, twitter, etc., etc, etc today for the same reason.

Sure enough, you are stuck. It SUCKS. You'd log onto facebook or G+ and bitch about it to everyone who listens, but they're gone too!

You're pissed off and bored, can't get much work done, CAN'T SOCIALIZE, and you're looking for someone to blame. Out of frustration you hit the play button on that film and learn how your elected officials are EXTORTING these sites and that it was necessary to band together and fight back... And until the extortions stop, you can expect more days ahead of this "Strike."

BUT WAIT! It doesn't have to be so bleak... Underneath the film a small link says: "Outraged by this problem? Click here."

The link goes to the petition for a new amendment to the constitution or if they don't think that will do enough, a petition for a new continental congress to put an END to this shit.

I'd estimate that 99% of this fucking country, (and 30% of the rest of this planet!) ESPECIALLY the moron facebook crowd, would sign that thing so fast that it would make the net go black for an hour! Naturally you don't want more of these blackouts, so you sign it too.

After you sign the petition there is of course the 'tell a friend' link to make sure your friends know you signed it and they should too.

So, in light of this plan, do you really think they'd fail to get any signatures to make some major changes?

At least enough to get congress to stop extorting them?

In such an occasion, there is nothing at all to do but for congress to officially apologize to them and declare that it was all some sort of misunderstanding to the american people... Goog & Friends would win the round but I might agree it wouldn't go all the way to becoming an amendment.

Yeah, they will try. No doubt about that.

Just in my short lifespan I've watched each president and the congress of the time grow more and more bold. Every single administration did things that were unthinkable during the previous administration... History books show this too since the freaking civil war... And it really does seem to be reaching some kind of tipping point lately, one where the sheeple are starting to get uncomfortable enough to look around. (Which is why we now have NON-MSM news.)

I fear that if Paul doesn't win, or wins but is assassinated, we may seriously be in for some kind of outright revolution in the next 5-10 years. A revolution born of OWS and Anonymous... An "anti-MSM" clashing with the MSM and government to a point that is so loud that no one can escape seeing the news about it daily.

What'd I say!? I'm not wanting the revolution... I'm wanting Paul to get elected! -They going to "accidently freak" all Paul voters?

Mr Roberts didn't stand in the way he is the one that pushed you to create your own fantasy world, you know the one that pays your bills. You should send him a card and thanking him

If these players actually went ahead and shut down the internet for a day, I bet that'd be so cool, their stock prices would increase that day.

"you're going to pass shitty laws, eh? we'll show you who runs the internet!" ... kinda thing. :)

Seriously, shutting down Google, Youtube, and Facebook, is about as close as you can get to the end of the internet for 80% of the people out there.

Hard to tell with the others, but google is way to greedy to ever give up a day of revenue.
