Google Dance

I know that it can really vary on how long it takes to come back when your site starts doing the google dance. I was happy today because my site was getting more traffic, so I figured it must be ranking higher for something. I just got home from work and checked on it and it's been bitch slapped from all it's keywords. It wasn't doing that great, on page 1 for 1 word and pages 2-3 for a lot of other words, but now it's no where to be found in the top 200.

When your site comes back, does it usually just pop back to where it was or better, or do you basically have to start working your way up again. I guess it goes up and down, but I mean once it's stable again...
There has been some discussions on here regarding this topic, but no one really seems to know for sure. Is it best to keep drip feeding blasts to it and other links, or just chill on the linkbuilding for a while?

My site's stats look like an ECG of someone in cardiac distress. Up and down.

The collective wisdom is to keep up link velocity. If you are using dfb, then look in the forum there also.

Unless I see that a site is banned totally, i never stop working on link building or adding content for that matter. The site came back in 1 month and 10 days. It took a year on another site once. So there is no fixed time frame so to speak.

How long does it usually take you to go from 0 to ranking for this kind of volume?

No Idea. I don't track that too well, but it is not constant. Sometimes it happens in a month, sometimes longer, even though I follow similar routine on all my sites.
Its easier to get such volume when a keyword has massive Broad Match traffic. You get a lot of high volume sub pages to work with.

And how much do you budget for your linking work?

My Budget is "unlimited", because, I know that, no matter how much I spend, it is never enough, and also the return is always positive.

I cannot work with a Budget in my link building campaigns since these are no micro niche sites where I can only get 200 UVs a day with the top position and the return is small.

The Major constraint is not the budget but finding relevant sites to link to me, whatever the cost. for that I have an unlimited budget.

Web 2.0 and similar stuff are my very very low priority links that I add just to increase the diversity and for lack of other links.

When your site comes back, does it usually just pop back to where it was or better, or do you basically have to start working your way up again.

Usually better, because I never stop working.

On this site, as I mentioned, all my pages and posts were nuked. Suddenly today, all my pages and posts are back, and most of the positions are better if not the same.

off topic - whats the name of the web analytics program you're using OP?

I use sitemeter.com Its pretty basic but serves my purpose and I don't want to use G analytics since I own multiple sites on the same Niche. Statcounter + Sitemeter pretty much serves my purpose.

+Rep. thanks. got the same problem here. Google already knows too much! It's a shame Google Analytics is the best free platform available.

thx for the response Blog spotter would you consider selling any of these sites? if so hit me up

also what tools do you use for niche research/keyword research?

Um.. guys. I need your help. All my adsense sites just got slapped today. ALL of them. Every single one of them (around 10) dropped by around -40 in ranking. All I did was blastbank them a few hundred per day for around 2 weeks now. Should I continue my link building? Or should I stop? What should I do?

If it is a google dance, how can ALL websites drop in their ranking at the SAME TIME? I do host them on a single host though. Does that affect?

Please help. Thanks!

-40 is not a Slap, but just a friendly warning that you are doing it wrong.
Blasting is the poorest form of link building, (if you don't know about blasting properly that is), so you should just keep it for linking to your tier one and/or 2 assets.

If you are blasting to your money site then you need a different scale of blasting... millions?

For now, contunue to add more links, better quality links. Some Authority links please... Which is why I still love dmoz.. yahoo.. botw etc for that extra authority//

I have sold a few sites initialy when I wanted cashflow, but I am at a stage where I am looking to buy rather than sell. And I leverage all my sites for linking purpose.. 4 way trades etc.. eg.. Every Mother site has tons of high quality mini sites that themselves rank well, but whose primary purpose is to boost the mother site...

I don't use any tools now, as I have enough Niche to keep me busy. I use Google Adwords tool to grab a few long tails for these Niche. As I mentioned above, most of my niche are large Niche. eg: Coupons, Movies

keep building links and come back in 3 weeks if you're still in the same boat and promise you'll never freak out about anything related to SEO on the same day it happens ever again
