Google Drops Profile Photos, Google+ Circle Count From Authorship In Search Results

Oh no, where can we now turn to for that ever so unique mixture of nerd, Indian, and model facial pics?

Great. Most of the pictures in search results annoy me anyway. The majority of article content online represents brands, not individuals, so why try force an image to them/penalise those brands that don't want to put their authors' faces to their articles so prominently.

Although I'm sure this thread will turn into a ten pager on how Google is using it to decrease organic real estate, increase ad real estate, and therefore to get more SEO's into PPC.

A few people will proclaim SEO is dead, someone else will say it's alive yet, the conversation will get heated, hitler/vaccines/911/cancer/bitcoin will be brought into it and numerous people will claim that their coupon/diet/loan sites still make decent money, cas they know the real secret truth of se1 optimisation. The people that know the real truth will include a "winky" face, have a giant BST banner in their signature and not divulge further.

Someone might post a picture of a cheque, or a screenshot from an affiliate account.

Eventually the thread will die, when a number of people come in and say that being dependent on SEO is stupid, and that people should use a variety of marketing techniques to drive traffic to their website.

Oh, and the world will keep spinning.

;) ;)

People do ALL this work for G+ accounts...

Google + Matt claimed over and over: Authorship is "THE FUTURE", and is here to stay..

Now it's being removed?

Big slap in the face to honest/legit SEOs.

It's pretty obvious google is doing this to decrease organic real estate. They ultimately want to increase ad real estate and therefore end up with more SEO's getting into PPC, because that's where all the clicks end up going.

I'd venture to say SEO is dead, but at the same time I feel like it's very alive. I'm sure all of you Hitler-esque vaccine supporting, 9/11 false flag operating, cancer jimmying, bitcoinpreneurs will disagree, cuz the sky is always falling or being raised, but my coupon site for my diet loans is still making decent money. That's cuz I get into SE1 and even SEP. ;)

If that screenshot doesn't inspire you, good. Because being dependent on SEO is stupid. You should be depending on all manner of marketing mediums to pull traffic to your site.

Not that it is a new revelation or anything but I am still shocked at how badly they blew G+. After all that time and effort that they are even backing away from it... it is good that it failed but damn how can they be so out of touch?

amazing discussion going on here.

CTR goes down on links clicked and CTR goes up on ads clicked.

I highly doubt the CTR is "similar". But that is so vague it doesn't really mean anything.

Kodak, Dinosaurs ... Google will one day die too.

I always found it weird seeing a picture of myself when looking up my own links, but even weirder will be seeing my name first when it's the headline of my posts that I want front and center.

But we shall see, we shall see.

God those pictures are annoying, especially when the content behind it is MFA/linkbait crap from 2007-2009. There are so many garbage blogs cluttering the SERPS with useless guest content, with circular links, it explains why reddit and wikipeida are becoming so popular because they don't allow that shit.
