Google is finally launching an OS

Hello friends,

I personal think Google OS is no threat Windows like Bing no threat Google search.

But some say that in 10 year Windows may no exist and Microsoft be bankrupt because Google Chrome OS so I dont know.

Good luck bros

^middle sentence makes your post look totally fake-poor-english-indian. Your other posts were much more believable.

Good luck bro

p.s. the other one about you praying to vishnu that the u.s. government doesnt take away our acai monies was hilarious

don't watch too much porn with chrome os.

you will get a low quality score or get banned from using your computer for a week.

sry but i do not get how you can say that there is any kind of innovation with this program. There is nothing new just old stuff re arranged

Show me this 'old stuff'.

Also, I'd like to see some web projects you have heard about lately that you consider innovative...

What a waste of $40.

that's what a few said about xboxnatal.net which i regged last month, then turned it for $450. i'll easily be able to do the same thing with this one too. easy money for a couple hours of work.

I think Google has done a sound job of providing some sound web apps. But I don't like this. Too much information in the hands of one company.

Really though, if there's one brand in the world that's capable of posing a serious threat to Microsoft - It's Google. They've got the exposure and the market l.everage to give the Windows suits some serious food for thought.

if this is anything like the thousands of "iPOD KILLER" products that have come out in the past 5 years, nothing to see here.

You have to somewhat admire the MARKETERS at Google no matter how you feel about the company as a whole or their agenda.

Having that big W for their product logo is just plain awesome and hilarious at the same time. The w subconsciously links the mind to Windows, both good and BAD thoughts. The bad thoughts get them to use the Wave because it is NOT Windows and for the good it's like a "Cute" version of Windows just for the FUN stuff on the computer.

The W looks like a crown, and of course the first letter of WIN!!!

Then the name itself, Wave. A wave of the hand is the same as saying, "Hello" in any language and is universal. Then of course the obvious of Surfing the Net.

Here's a screen shot of the actual interface http://www.crunchbase.com/assets/images/original/0004/5813/45813v1.png

Based on that screen shot, I'd say they are really trying to steer users into using online storage over keeping data on your LT or DT if that is their OS's interface. It looks like a dressed up Chrome browser to me.

I think some of you are way off track here, it's not like google will be able to do much with the laws in place for privacy, and if you are concerned about file-sharing, especially illegal filesharing, well, don't do it. You won't need to pirate software on a Linux machine anyhow. I can actually see more programs coming out for Linux as a result of this. More companies targeting it, etc. And whoever said about the monopoly only being able to exist if a law makes it so, is basically right. the COULD force everything out of business, but it's unlikely.

I watched about half of the video. Can't say that I see anything there except a better way for government agencies and corporations to collect data on clueless users, except the "open source so you can host it on your own server(s) " stuff that is likely to be only a tiny percentage of users.

If the choice is between trusting Microsoft or trusting Google, I'll stick with Ubuntu and Firefox.

If someone have not read xmcp123's great article of google's data empire, read it now. It explains why so many are concerned about this new OS.

Google’s User Data Empire : Slightly Shady SEO

And this is the point that's also applicable to their OS that I'm not sure everyone gets:

shady's blog post said:
[Partially] Closed Source - I’m no open source junkie, but let’s not kid ourselves. The one primary difference between Firefox and Chrome is that Chrome is closed source. It’s based off of Chromium, a BSD licensed piece of software. BSD license means you don’t have to open source your modification on their code(unlike the GPL). This means one has to run a sniffer to see the data Chrome is sending out; you can’t simply open the source code. While initial versions don’t send out an excessive amount of data, I’m willing to bet user adoption will change that.

They will probably take a similar approach with their OS. As long as they only accept code under permissive licenses like BSD and MIT, the release of their Googly branded product can be closed source and have proprietary parts, even if the code its based on is open source.
