If Google wanted, they could expand this to become a Second Live clone. For now, it's just 3d chat. I heard it was a "20%" project.

I think it has potential, although it is just a glorified 3D chat application at the moment. I think that Google are waiting for Adobe to add greater GPU accelerated functionality to their Flash player before they can really take things where they want to go.
