I happen to like Google's beta projects. I don't see what people are complaining about. Google Finance, GTalk, Gmail, Analytics, etc.. I use them all.

I think they meant that google was mooving so far from search that people were thinking they were loosing touch with their core services

I enjoy how google opens up a lot of products as well - but the point remains that expanding to so many different areas theres no way they would all be successfull.

It is nice to see google is getting back to its SE roots though.
