Seriously , its just a browser basically.

There was nothing in that presentation that I can't already do with my Windows PC, or Linux, or Mac... It just looks nice and acts like my cell phone. Great.

Is that a 4:3 screen?
Edit: nope, 3:2, how the fuck are you supposed to watch movies there?

Whole video pissed me off. First of all they basically copied mac and made it more square. Then all these vague statements. "We wanted to make it amazing". WTF does that mean? or "we wanted hardware dissappear"... what? how is it different from any other laptop besides touch screen ... mind full of fuck now.

I honestly thought the video was an Apple parody for the first 60 seconds when it appeared in my youtube subs

As someone who prefers 4:3 over 16:9 this is a step in the right direction.

It's not for movies, and 16:9 (tv/youtube etc) content will simply have a ~5% horizontal bar top and bottom.

The pixel density is nice, but would personally rather have a bigger display.

Google think they can pull a "Apple" with Chromebook. If apple fanboys jump on any apple product. How about we come out with some shitty chrome browser laptop and call it chromebook, maybe those android suckers (who download apk for paid apps on 4shared) jump on our crapbook?

Google needs to seal their ass for a while coz they have been shitting a lot off late.

Why would anybody buy this thing. It can't run the majority of software available and your locked into google for everything. Google likes to steal and copy from others. Larry and Sergey stole the idea of backwards search from Mr. Li who went on to found Baidu. They bought android. Google has invented nothing proprietary and they are still an ad company. 98% of their revenue comes for selling good old fashioned ads.

For the same amount of money, I can buy a magnificent touch screen windows 8 machine. We have been using win8 with Lenovo touchscreens, the dell one 27 touch screens and the Surface Pro ( which incidentally can replace my laptop and iPad). Win 8 is a fast fluid, intuitive system which is extremely powerful and rock steady reliable. And it boots up in 9 seconds. The Surface is instantaneous. With these machines, I can run the most productive and powerful software available, not subpar nonsense like google docs, etc. The chrome book is ridiculous- I'll stick with the beautiful win8 or or the apple MacBook Pro. These are Tate of the art powerhouses, not limited glorified net books like the junk google pedals.

makes it more easier for anyone to spend $200 more (over this chrome shit) and get a macbook pro.

Why do people buy iPads? Same shit different package. There's a market there, especially for people that don't need anything fancy and just use their computers for browsing, and maybe light office app use.

If anything, to me at least, it seems like something perfect for my mom.

I think this shit could work for my mom. The desktop is too much of a barrier for her to access the internet. She still has trouble opening her browser even when I deleted everything off her desktop except Chrome which I renamed "OPEN ME FOR INTERNET". It's like old people just want to shut off their minds when using technology.

Google has been whoring ChromeOS for years and everyone ignored it with good reason. I thought they gave up on it when they bought Android.

Google hasn't developed anything internally worth shit in the last 10 years.
