Yeah that just happened to my buddy here in So Cal. Neighbors called the cops and they both went to jail for dometic violence and have to take 52 weeks of anger management. The cops, if called, and something happened are required to take you to jail.

thats not true whatsoever. Seen plenty of fights where the cops came and took no one to jail. Only time I've seen people hauled off is if the cops stroll up in the middle of some really good beatin or a fucked up face or if someone has a warrant. If the two parties aren't bleeding or anything and they say everythings fine the cop will check uhm out and leave

The cops showed up at both of the last two fights I was unfortunate enough to be involved in and noone got arrested. First time I was fighting off two guys and the cops showed up and we said we were friends and just drunk and messing around, we all had cabs outside the bar so they let us go. Other time was a 10-man brawl involving a baseball bat where I broke my hand on some kids head and still noone got arrested. You keep freaking out, screaming, arguing and throwing shots once the cops get there... yea you're spending the night in the clink. I've been arrested for some of the DUMBEST shit in history, but never for fighting. Partially because I do just about everything I can to avoid fights, no interest in assault or murder charges. A friend of a friend is now going to jail because he got in a fight outside a local hardcore show and hit some kid who fell down, split his head open on the sidewalk and died.
About your brother, it depends on how far you took it. I mean did you just fight him off and defend yourself? Or did you put him in his place and then get in a few more shots over and beyond what was absolutely necessary for your own protection? Either way, he's adopted.
