Trailers have changed quite a bit... I just watched a documentary on it. They have focus groups where they measure brain activity to find out what should go in them. Interesting / scary shit.

I really don't know if I'd call them pathetic. When you compare it to trailers of today there is absolutely no comparison.

But when did that come out? Late 70s early 80s? Ppl probably jizzed in their pants when they saw that trailer. I'm sure if. You were to look at all trailers during that time they were probably similar. Defiantly nit the heart pounding, adrenaline pumping stuff you see today.

the opposite, an awesome trailer but not a movie..dam

.

Yeah, I agree, "pathetic" wasn't the word I was going for, but just couldn't express the "omg, ugh" after watching those. I remember seeing Star Wars in the theater in 1977. I think I was Darth Vader for Halloween up until I was too old for Halloween.

Can you even get the original versions anymore or are they all "special editions" with the CG Jabba, Greedo firing first and the weird halo effect when the Death Star blows up?

I watched the all the new episodes, yesterday on spike.

Went on Netflix to see what they had and they had no star wars at all

Even back in the early 80s, we didn't look at the Star Wars movies the way we do today. When one came out, it felt more like watching the Saturday morning cartoons on the first weekend of summer break. If you notice the Jedi trailer, there are a lot of quick cuts of the various characters.

By the time the Return of the Jedi came out, everybody had Star Wars shit in their room, and the main thing about the trailer all the kids were looking for is what characters were going to be in the film, because everybody had Star Wars shit in their rooms.

There was another campaign for Return of the Jedi that I remembered a lot more, and it was mainly focused on the Ewok scenes. Before that movie came out, there was Ewok shit all over the place. I think that pissed a lot of kids off because nobody gave a shit about the Ewoks, we all wanted something even better than The Empire Strikes Back.

And it didn't matter who you were, if you had a Death Star or a Millennium Falcon, you were the shit on your block. Yeah, back then we actually opened our action figures and played with them.
