Guess I Shouldn't Run My PPC Traffic On Zensix

LOL @ people who use shared hosting for anything. I was helping a friend on a Zensix account this week and I was floored by how much slower it was compared to a cheap dedi. Not saying it's not good, I like Subigo, but that hosting is nothing I'd ever want a click that I paid for to be servicing. Softlayer quad-quadcore FTW.

On a side note, there is a correlation between server speed and conversions, more notably between shared hosting and a nice $200/month dedi. I'm serious, you think a $200/month dedi is too expensive? Consider what you're losing...

lol... There is a huge difference between a fast shared hosting account and a single site on a quad-quadcore server.

On a side note... This is also why we are:

1. Trying to get people to move from cPanel to DirectAdmin
2. Not using DimeNOC for future servers

This thread has prompted me to try something new. I'm in the process of setting up a new server just for testing purposes... I think it'll make everybody happy.

I said I liked you, just saw a big difference, that's all. If I didn't have a dedi, I'd probably be with you too. (And you'd love every night of it! lol)

$2 a month, good God whats this thread even doing here ??? *facepalm* *facepalm* *facepalm*

Other than this thread (which I'm guessing was borne more from frustration than his normal rationale), acemenace has always seemed like a pretty level-headed poster but I agree.

Goddamnit, I just agreed with Andrew Scherer.

I'm going to bed.

all technical issues aside, this host package is great for building out some hubs or inbound links, but a real money making site needs dedi. anything less is a gamble.

I had this exact thing happen to be yesterday, shared hosting was cut off without warning do to volume. I had an alert though and had the traffic paused minutes later. I'm a noob and just got into this and 2 months ago shared hosting was in my budget and a dedicated was not. But with how the offer was going and the scaling I was doing I had already ordered my dedicated Monday so it was conveniently ready when my shared hosting couldn't handle it.

Who was the host?

/pretty sure it wasn't zensix

^^ Hostgator

There offense was probably worse then yours. You didn't break any rules because the guy was breaking your TOS so it was fair game. Hostgator didn't have any rules I was breaking and I even checked with them last week what volume I could be running and they said give it a try since it's such a simple page it should be alright. Still I can forgive the guy for shutting me down to avoid crashing the server, just the guy working there doing his job.

As a whole those it would be great if shared hosts such as yourself and HostGator did what was described earlier with a backup server so you can give the guy some sort of notice before cutting him off.

I don't know about copying files and moving dns... Your setup should be like Frontend server - DB (data) server ( iscsi is cheapest good way of connecting them). So now you can add as many frontend servers and load balance them, you can have on of those servers as your testing server and fire it up as needed.
