That's tragic.

I know the announcers didn't know at the time but you know the one that made the joke about everyone looking at the "splat" must feel like absolute shit.

I always joke that one of these days I'll fall over trying to catch a ball at the Rangers Stadium, but I never for one second thought it would actually happen to anyone even though there was always a possibility of it happening. This is really sad, one of those freak accidents.

Thats terrible. I cant believe they dont have a net setup there between that gap and the wall. That setup was an accident waiting to happen

Feel bad for Hamilton too. All he was doing was throwing up a ball, which countless fans are always pleading for players to do. I bet if he didn't throw up the ball he would have been called a jerk.

Fuck that seriously sucks. Poor guy. Apparently conscious and talking afterwards only to die later. How awful for the kid.

You gotta know the Rangers will be facing a lawsuit and I bet no more balls will be thrown up into the stands.

Wow that sucks Just read the description and said he was conscious and talking but later died. Curious what was the reason he died later.

Sucks for Josh Hamiliton too. I thought it was just a foul ball and he tried getting it.

It would be a brain haemorrhage. It's quite common for people to appear fine at first, but die later. It's only as the blood pools into the skull that it increases the intracranial pressure enough squeeze the brain and causes symptoms. That can take hours or days depending on the size of the bleed.

I remember a teacher at school died in a climbing accident. The person belaying him dropped him, and he wasn't wearing a helmet. He was in hospital, but appeared fine for 4 days, then died overnight.

It's the reason you need to get head injuries checked out at the ER, even if you feel fine.

Really sad for that guy's kid.
