In 'Merica that guy would be charged with murder...
He got the gun from him and didn't have to shoot an unarmed person in the back.

Dont think so. Not in Texas.

No he didn't, he jabbed the robber to put him off balance, giving him time to grab his own gun and shoot him. The robber still had his gun, and was lying on the floor for a while before you see the guy kick his gun out of his hand.

OK... let me rephrase that.

In 'Merica he would be interrogated by the police, made sure he had a license
to defend himself, lectured about how he should have used pepper spray instead,
and (coming soon) ensuring he had 2nd amendment rights insurance.

Depends on the state. Some states are very positive towards self defense, some will throw you in jail regardless.

Texas is by far the most positive state towards self defense. You can kill someone during the commission of a felony. Most states now have laws that say you can defend yourself or others if it's a life-or-death situation.

2013 could VERY well be the year that justified shootings by civilians surpasses the total number of those killed by cops. Last year the #s were off by 10 or 20.

This happened a few weeks ago here

Bloody hell, does that include all felonies, even when they're not harming you? If so, that means you could kill someone for running out of a shop with a laptop...

I think it has to be your property. Off the top of my head I can think of 4 instances where someone was breaking into a shed or business and was shot.
