He is doing it to help the people whose email address he is selling, and also the people who he ripped off. So he is doing US a FAVOR by 'making it right', but only if he can benefit economically... for his customer and provider's sake.
OP, now that you've practically written a novel here, you've demonstrated that you're not disabled and are more than capable of working. There have been plenty of service providers here that have been injured, or had surgery, and after a couple days of feeling sorry for themselves, they were back at it.

Oh I'm calm. I was just playing a practical and hilarious verbal joke on OP.
OP and I are brothers. I used to play a bunch of practical jokes on him when we were younger.
One time when OP was sleeping on the top of a bunk bed, I blindfolded him and stuffed earplugs into his ears. I then pushed him off the top of a bunk bed and he fell onto the floor, breaking one of his ankles. Completely confused, he started crying for his mommy as he was agonizing in pain (he was 8 at the time). I picked him up, forced him to the top of the stairs, and pushed him down again! He fell on one of the dogs, breaking both of the dog's legs, and my brother broke his other ankle. Hilarious!
But I wasn't done yet. I prepared a wheelchair for him at the bottom of the stairs. I propped him onto it, tied his hands to the arm rests, and brought him outside of the house. This was so hilarious at the moment. He was so confused because he still had his blindfold and earplugs on.
I pushed the wheelchair down the road, which was a large hill, and he crashed into a car some 40 yards down.
Hilarious!
As you see, my brother and I are classic practical jokers.

I got the same email, I wonder how many of his past customers he can scam some cash out of. Looks like the $500 might be negotiable now. The Indian guy he found on odesk is going to be busy.
