Here you go see this...
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpKvoe-tDxw]YouTube Removes RonPaul2008dotcom- CENSORSHIP IN ACTION! - YouTube[/ame]

And to add salt to the wound, the Google ad on the video is for MittRomney.com.

That was one of the best channels on YouTube, too. Thousands of great vids, must have helped convert fifty to a hundred thousand Paulites over the years.

It was probably the single most concentrated target there ever was against Ron Paul himself that could be 'taken out' by someone in power.

Hmm. Now if only we could narrow down who it was that would want to do such a thing and had the power to do it...? Lemme think......

I've been seen defending Ron Paul on here before and I absolutely do not think this was targeted at Ron Paul in anyway. They were lucky to stay around as long as they did. A large portion of their content was from mainstream media sources which go after content on youtube on copyright grounds. Simply put if your account gets enough copyright notices, it gets canned.

As for being Romney.. come on guys, you know how ads work.

I agree with Luke and Vhaeos. It was a great channel. It probably was initially targeted by the powers that be. But it had multiple copyright violations. DMCA's gonna DMCA.

The people saying that they were taken down in a valid manner are either trolls or have no clue what fair use means.

CISPA has nothing to do with this.

This is like the stupid people on twitter who were asking why Obama took down Wikipedia.

There is plenty to get upset about. We don't need to invent reasons.

Of course this isn't the exact same thing as CISPA, but that video was protected under the Fair use laws... Which quite a few of you on here don't seem to know anything about. They state that anyone can use someone else's material, even when copyrighted, as long as the purpose and character of the use is not of commercial nature. This should only leave nonprofit purposes that fall under the lable "Education."

Few could seriously make the claim that these thousands of vids were for a purpose other than education. That's clearly fair use. The only thing I can think is that the owner stupidly put some ads on one that contained copyrighted material. I guess that would do it, but he's had 5 years to learn better!

If they were taken down via a DCMA action then the owner needs to respond saying it's fair use. If they respond then youtube will legally be able to restore the channel and it'll then be on the copyright owner (the person filing the DCMA request) to prove that it's not fair use. They'll (the copyright owner) will be forced to sue them for it to be removed again.

Even if there were ads in the videos they could still probably claim fair use.

You're assuming they (google/youtube) will even respond to him saying they are fair use

Luke, normally love reading your posts, even on things we don't agree on you always make me think.

I'm a RP supporter btw.

But that channel wasn't "protected" by any law.

If you want to claim "Fair Use", I'd say promoting a political candidate, who relies on donations to support his campaign, is commercial intent.

Second, Google/Youtube doesn't need a DMCA to take down ANY video. It's their site, they control the content.

I'm sure the take down was malicious. The DMCA could just be an excuse. Who knows.

I oppose CISPA.

If I had to guess I'd say it was taken down as part of Google's agenda for whatever reason. And they're free to do so. There's no law against them taking down any channel for any reason.
