I joined the DE club, you pricks (I mean that in a good way you pricks).

I now see why the whole old school shaving thing is making a come back, because "they" did it fucking right back in the day.

Although I will say, I'm not sure how some of you never cut yourself when starting out. In my first handful of shaves I cut myself pretty good a couple of times above the lip, my first shave especially was sort of a blood bath. However my last few shaves have been money finally.

It's kind of weird actually looking forward to shaving, very weird indeed.

What are you all using? I picked up a Murker 34C (Heavy Duty) on someone's recommendation, and it's a pretty good newbie razor.

First I use some crappy Philips auto shaver then I have to go over it again with a manual one. I use Schick Xtreme or whatever the hell it is...I used to use Gillette but realized it's just a fuckin rip off and gets dull faster than a rusty spoon. My facial hair is really thick so it's a real pain. I hate shaving. I think I'm going to grow an osama beard.

I see this often, you are suffering from shaving-productitise. Get you're shave game proper son.

I purchased a top of the line Philips Arcitec recently for the price of $250 (marked down from $420!), and I gotta say it does a pretty shit job of shaving. I don't even have a heavy beard.

I have to look into these old school shavers.

Rage9: I have got the same razor its served me well for 2yrs now. Get a sample blade pack from westcoastshaving and try out other blades. I never cut my self but the it can be caused by improper technique or a lack of lubricant. What cream are you using?

M0rtal: I have the same problem, super mean facial hair. Sometimes after I shave I find one of the damn things stuck in a finger like a splinter. I use a DE razor with Feather blades and I only use them twice before getting a new blade. Feather blades are super ninja sharp blades from Japan. All other blades give me a slight drag that I can feel.

Just make sure you go with the grain, search youtube for vids and sign up to Badger & Blade

Oh yeah I have got so much good info off those guys over there, and awesome community for sure.

Yeah that's about the way I feel about the electrics, I'm not willing to drop buku bucks on an expensive electric that doesn't shave worth a damn, or won't shave worth a fuck in a month.

Way ahead of you working my way through one right now. Started with Derbys, they where OK. Then Crystals, they sucked ass. Been with Personnas (red pack) for the last few shaves and they have been great. Going to try the Gillette 7 o' clock yellow pack tomorrow.

When I first started I was using Proraso and trying to make lather in a mug. I'm pretty sure this was what was kicking my ass so hard at first, getting a good lather. I picked up a bigger bowl for lathering, and some Taylor of Old Bond Street Avocado and that's been money. The stuff lathers so well.

Got 2 of my grandfather's old school DE's, never used anything else since.

Here's one,

I've got the exact same set up as God.

Badger and Blade info and details hooked me up, and I havent looked back yet. It is truly messed up to look forward to shaving...it used to be such a hassle, pain in the ass, and now I kinda spring out of bed a few minutes early to get my shave on.

I have been using a 4-blades Gillette with changeable head.
Before shaving I use a Proraso (awesome italian product) pre-shave cream because my beard is really hard.
No after shave but simply another Proraso soap.
Excellent results.

just got my first electric. if i go 3-4 days without shaving it starts to pull hairs, which really sucks.

I use this.

And some Taylor's soap, no bowl, just brush. I have numerous varieties, as I'm a bit of a poof, and also have some Trumpers, which I got for Xmas, but haven't used it yet.

I'm using Derby's as they're fine for me, so didn't require trying anything else. Plus I bought 100 of the fuckers, for about £6, which will seemingly last me
for ever.
got that exact razor. Small world.

Been on the DE Razor train for about a year. Went to Target to get replacement heads for my Mach3 Turbo, shit myself a little then though "no fucking way I'm paying $4/each for some piece of shit plastic head made in China that I have to replace every 3-4 shaves."

Called my girlfriend's dad and he had one of these babies packed away:

I use that exact model. Been using Mercur blades because that's all the Art of Shaving store had. Going to order a sample pack. I'm curious to try the Feathers and Gillette 7 o'clocks.

I shave with one of those and I can skip two days without looking like a completely bum. I do keep a triple-blade in the shower if I have to do a quick clean up because I'm running late.

Just tried the Gillette 7o'clocks (yellow pack) this morning, nice and sharp. Very nice blade IMHO. Haven't quite got to the Feathers yet.

I am also a fan of the traditional wet shaving and enjoy starting my day off like ths. I have been doing it myself for about a year now. I interchange between a Merkur 34c, 38c and a Slant Bar, depending on my mood and the length of my facial hair.

I use a somewhat unique style of face prep, using both a shaving soap and a shaving cream, then some nice aftershave and an ice cube when I am done...

I do like using safety razors, but as soon as I have the funding available, I need to invest in a set of these - this is how real men shave...

Took me half a dozen shaves to fully get past thoughts of accidentally slitting my own throat with a DE. No fucking way do I have the stones for one of those.
