Yes, i was affected by the password change but they sent the details about it to the account owner email adress so all was fixed within a few mins.
I've been using them for 6 months and they've been great, no hassles...what are you talkin bout?

Webferret: I think you have some anger issues my man, why not spend a day out on a lake fishing or reading, smoke a joint if its your thing.

or maybe you could come round my place, we drink a few beers, watch the game. Hell, we could even spoon. Do you like to be the big spoon or the little spoon.

or you could just blow me, fag

My passwords haven't been changed.

I did have some problems with them in the past, including blocking my account because I passed the 400 e-mails/hour limit they recently added and failed to let the customers know about it.

I got the email... kinda... I tried to log into my account last night to update a pic on one of my domains and couldn't get in. Tried to log into cpanel, same problem. I thought it was a billing error, but I pay every month via paypal, so that wouldn't make sense. Anyhow, after looking around a bit I found the email in my spam folder. I wonder if it was outlook or their own mail servers that marked it as spam?

Google routinely discount hostgator servers because there's usually nothing on them but crappy MFA sites built by newbies with 5 year old free scripts that result in more of the same old same old. Hostgator servers, with their 20,000 crappy subdoms on them are the archetypal 'bad neighborhood'

actually quite the opposite. shared hosting makes it much easier to rank shitty websites and they can't ban your ip.

i'm sure you have plenty of proof to back up all your claims which you wont mind posting. right? right.....?

Yeah. Go ask google. Or go get a shitty hostgator server ranked for anything competitive.

I've been with them for about three months. I have noticed some downtime here and there.

I got the email about the password change and i thought it was fishy too. I just didn't put "two and two together" and realize they might have been comprimised. I have a reseller account with a sheetload of sites on it.

Now I have to change all of my passwords...

This sucks!

Now this shit just fucking happend to me as well. Password was changed without notice. No email and having difficulty setting a new one. I am so fucking out of their hosting as soon as I can move to a different one. So John.. site5 huh? I'm there..

I'm not in bed with any reseller hosting so take my comments as totally unbiased. I've been running with HG for 4+ years now with absolutely zero problems. No email, no PW change needed, No downtime in a while, they even set up wildcard subdomains for me with no fuss. Support sucks sometimes but I can hold my own and usually just do a work around rather than dealing with their choppy English. Learn to hack people, it has benefits

It's a fucking password change, you should do this occasionally anyways. I would say they are expensive for a shared account but $25/month when I'm hosting like 80 sites there is really not that bad.

This couldn't be further from the truth. Aside from a slower bot visit frequency there is little difference in the SERPs for shared, vps or dedi. Really dude, pump out the proof ... BS is easy for me to see through but the noobs will think you are a straight shooter when you are really a weasel in ferret's clothing.

Well I finally got the email. Although it is stupid and strange, I didn't have any trouble resetting the password.

I think you're trying to promote another hosting company you angry little ferret.

Matt: You understand this is non-attributable, right?
WF: Sure
Matt: Have a think about it.
WF: Sorry?
Matt: What would you do in this situation?
WF: Id ban by ip
Matt: :-)
WF: Yeh but u cant. U r lsted co
Matt: So what? Annual reports don't include server logs.
WF: which hosts ;-)
Matt: That would be telling
WF: go on i'll tell u bout the content wrangler bot backend
Matt: Hostgator type sites - all spam farms, mfa $2 a year 50k per server boxes basically. Would you give them space on your pages?
WF: cours enot. u actually including hostgator?
Matt: yep. Worst of the lot. the RSD is about as low as we track
WF: whats rsd?
Matt: Real Site Density.
WF: spam / hand written ratio?
Matt: Pretty much.
Wf: How do you work that out.
Matt: Don't ask me

assuming that's actually matt cutts, the first line invalidates the whole thing.

that doesn't matter though, because whoever it is never says anything about sites being discounted.

at MOST it suggests that they MAY be quicker to manually ban sites on shared hosting.

but anyone with half a clue and any real experience in this area knows that shared hosting is a goldmine for flying under the radar.

but seriously, NONE of that information has anything to do with why you're bitching about them in the first place, other than they changed your password. big fucking deal, go buy some vagisil for your sandy vagina.

I've got a crappy subdomain splog that's #1 and #2 for the keyword I'm targeting and has been for more than 6 months... it's even beating the .com (who somebody else owns) for the same keyword, haha... if you don't believe me just PM me and I'll show it to you...

got a bunch of other stuff ranked on hostgator too... the cakes is spot on here... easier to hide in a large crowd...

you people make me sick. Preying on newbies. you don't care what you sell as long as you make your nice $100 commission. Why don't you just post your hostgator affiliate link right here? I'm sure you'll get more sales off it than off your crappy blog (using 'blog' in widest sense of word, obviously).
