House of Cards Season 3 (spoiler alert)

What drew me in to HOC was how it showed Washington. We all know how important the city is and I've spent some time there - but I really never have had a feel for how Washington works or how power flows through it, just a dry understanding through what I read.

But this show was showing it through the eyes of congressmen, staff, and media - bit players all. That alone I found fascinating, that it was well cast and fairly juicy only made it better.

Season 2 - ambition, body count & boredom. Began watching without much interest, forgot he became president in the time between Season 2 & 3, really didn't care. I think they raised the stakes too fast.

Season 3 was considerably better than 2. But he's president now - which means what made it unique is long gone, just my opinion. I don't know why they even bother showing Washington DC street corners in the intro when half the show is shot in Air Force 1. Also seems like there's less Underwood-to-camera narrative, which I liked.

That said, I'm sure I'll watch 4 so Underwood wins.

Because of this thread I watched first episode of Banshee. It's fairly insulting to whatever intelligence I possess, but on the other hand I was impressed at the amount of storyline introduced into just one episode.

I am going push on to see if it's better than Ray Donovan, which I could only take 4 or 5 episodes of.

Banshee is pretty unique as far as tv shows go. Just realize while watching it that it's primarily in the Action genre (something not really found on tv anymore) so don't expect philosophy, politics, etc. But what it does it does well. It's got a lot more story than a typical action flick though and does action better than most action movies.

Yeah, as some of you posted, I also was annoyed by the stupidity of Banshee during the first few episodes until I realized that it is just an action series. Then changed my perspective and enjoyed the show.

Yes, you have to think of Banshee as a live-action porno-comic, where all the main characters have elite combat skills and a mysterious past while having mad sex with each other at random.

The photos in the title credits sometimes give clues to what is going to happen in the episode, and after the credits, there is always a short scene usually not relevant to the story.

Look up "Banshee Origins" on CInemax's web site or their youtube channel, there are a lot of cut scenes they turned into webisodes. They generally help to give more backstories for the characters.
