House of Start-ups in Montreal

They are everywhere, they are called coworking spaces. Look them up in your area i bet you will find one

true, but this one is slightly different. All of the people in the "house" are start-up entrepreneurs that can stay there for only 3-6 months, then they have to make room for new arrivals. You won't meet service people that do web-design etc. etc.

In addition to that most of the other coworking places, (not sure where you are but in mtl it's like that), have huge rooms and the so chatter noise never stops. This one has smaller rooms and thus smaller teams with less noise.

I paired up with 2 guys who seem to like quiter atmosphere like me.

There are other differences also, but it's all written in the link

we should start up some Montreal IM meetings.. I'd be down to network locally and meet some new peoples

they already organize some meetups at Notman I think, I recommend signing up to the Montreal start-up digest, always plenty of networking events.

I think this place is a copy of Station C, also located in Montreal: Memberships | Station C

similar and often compared to, but has big differences:

- Small office spaces, not a huge hangar room where it can get pretty noisy
- Downtown location
- Many companies are start-ups, not consultants, designers etc.
- Many events take place at the house
- More of a community feel inside the house, you see people often hanging out at the common area and exchanging ideas, sort of like a real life STS
- Open to everyone if you want to hang out at the common area, you don't need to pay anything

iPhone snap of the latest event (this is the common area btw), was a local AR meeting, the girl on the picture is the CEO of Clothia.com and this is just one of many events that take place there.
