maybe a dumb question ... but the only other people i ask are my parents, and they just use someone they know that can do taxes .. usually from their home ... that makes me a little weary

this is the first time i have to get them done in this area and i really don't know how to find a reputable one .. tips?

If you've been networking locally, ask other small business owners.
Interview a few CPA's before choosing one. Ask them what type of clients they have worked with, what fields the businesses have been in. Have them answer these questions before you tell them about your business or they'll just mold their responses to make it look like they have experience with clients like you, regardless of their previous work.

I agree with the 2nd posters reply. If you know any other business owners ask them who they use. Than ask for a 10 or 15 minute consolation, most acts will give you a free consult to do a quick interview.

Accountant here; Ask around for an accountant through friends or family, or go to an accounting firm. Try multiple accountants until you find a good one. Also don't be cheap a good accountant is worth the $

here's how you do it:

ask the accountant "What's 2+2?".

The first few will likely say "4", but when you get the one that says "What do you want it to be?" that's who you hire.

May be retarded but everyone who saw this knew exactly what it was. How many other accountants in your town do you even know their names.

PS. Unless your getting government handouts this may not be the best tax service for a small business

yea well i wouldn't want to even walk in that store b/c of that ... probably the dumbest marketing tactic i've ever seen

Unless you are getting paid by the government you probably aren't going there. I don't mean salary. I mean you pay 4.5k in taxes through the course of the year, and you get a refund of 8,500 back.

Then you need your monies and you have to go get a refund anticipation loan.

Their demo doesn't pay anywhere near $4500 in taxes. Their target market doesn't even pay 10% of that in taxes. This company makes its monies prayin on people getting a monthly check from the Gov.

Honest answer, I looked around and found one by asking ohter business owners around town, and scheduled a meeting with him to tlak to him and get a feel for him. I also talked to the people who work for him in his office and saw how friendly they were. Then I also looked at what kind of place he was working out off, if he kept alot of paper files, how long he had been in business, and etc. Mine is a 2nd generation acocuntant, has 6 people working for him, loves his job, treats his employees great, has 2 huge rooms dedicated to just paperwork and file cabinets, and when I visit ther are always atleast 6 pieces of paper waiting for him when he gets out of a meeting for people that called him.
