How Do You check who is trying to connect to your server? (hostgator)

i have a feeling someone else is trying to connect. or it might just be errors.

What? You have a dedicated server with them and you want to know if someone else is trying to log in as root? Check the server logs or install something that will notify you of each log in attempt: ConfigServer Security & Firewall
