Thanks to everyone who's commented on the post and sent me PM's etc...
I've had a few questions - I'm not a very good writer, but I'll try and explain my general answer to all of these questions as simply as possible.
So a few guys contacted me saying they have xx,xxx visitors a month to an adult site, but get shit click through and conversion rates.
Something I see continuously in affiliate marketing is people assuming you need thousands of visitors to your sites every month to make good money - this is completely untrue.
Some of my sites get thousands of hits per month, and do crap revenue. Others, such as the Keeley show case mentioned above, get really low traffic numbers, but conversion rates are high and revenue is steady.
Basically, the secret to affiliate marketing is this:
MATCH THE RIGHT OFFER TO THE RIGHT CONSUMER (AT THE RIGHT TIME)
This is all you need to know. If you forget everything else you've ever read, just keep this in mind. Giving the customer what they want, when they want it is a one way road to success!
This is, of course, how Google became the comapny they are today - give the user what they want, when they search for it.
What we see too much of with affiliate sites is people developing sites such as specialist-blue-widgets.com, then running ads for random red widgets and a couple of yellow widgets. Make sure when you setup your site your ads are highly focused - actually targeted to your user.
And, of course, don't forget to run different ads with different offers and see what converts. If you have a good sticky site, it's especially important to run different ads - if a user comes by 3 or 4 times to your site and doesn't click your ads, why would they do so when they come back next time? Give them something new to look at - different banner ads - not the same shit you've been running since 2006 when you set the site up.
If anyone wants to chat about this, feel free to post here or PM me.
I can spend hours and hours finding the right offers for my sites, but once you've spent the time finding the right offers and ads, it can pay off handsomely.
