How many of you have had a site/page/code ripped?

When I first got started in IM everyone was always bitching about having their LP's stolen but I never thought anything of it because the pages being stolen were flogs, farticles, simple squeeze pages etc.

Well, I recently had one of my sites ripped that wasn't a simple LP and that I actually put some money and creativity into.

This is isn't a thread about how to seek revenge, just curious how many of you have had sites stolen? Whether a simple LP or something more complex.
 


A few years ago a network of shit heads started lifting my PPC landers.

I didn't overly care as it was a competitive niche and if making your own lander was beyond you then making PPC work most certainly would be but, they left all my company and regulatory details on the site so this was an issue.

To start with I just got the sites pulled via their ISPs (very easy to do usually) but eventually I started planting links in the landers to some of my other sites. These links got lifted at the same time and placed on the ripped version.

Now these sites may have been thin but activity was also short lived, loads of them are still hosted but have not been link spammed. I've been pumping them as link satellites ever since.

Happened to me so many times I lost count.

There is literally really nothing that can be done. It's a big waste of time to try to do anything...
 
Yup. But when I was a noob I ripped a lot of landers myself, so can't really blame them for doing it to me now. You could send them a message about suing and copyright infringement etc which would stop the small affs who don't know better.
 
Just file a C&D and a DMCA takedown notice with their ISP and be done with it. Happens more often than I care to remember. I just keep my takedown .doc handy now.
 
When one of my sites/landers becomes successful and looks fairly well designed somebody will always rip it..I usually don't mind but if it might cause trouble and you own the rights to the design just send a c&d to the hosting provider and they will take it down most of the time.

Getting shit scraped/ripped since 2001.

That's what happens when you are ultra visible.
 
My gf was running a neighborhood blog and another blog in a neighborhood a mile away would rip her entire posts instantly, and blatantly. So she stopped updating it.
 
Stolen shit RARELY outperforms the original, whether it's landing pages, software, books, etc.

If they're copying you it means you're doing something right, so just roll with it. It's a good thing, and you can't stop it anyway.
 
Don't hate me cuz I'm beautiful but I'll rip wp sites into html and wordai that shit until it starts to rank, then come in with the real copy. Gotta play a bit dirty if you're testing on dozens of sites daily.
 
Yeah. I was helping this guy out about 7-8 years ago giving him some advice on a niche I was dominating at the time for this one affiliate program. I never minded giving out tips because most people were too lazy to do the work, anyway. Which I guess leads to this issue-He copied my site. Then he tried to use the Vanilla Ice defense. I got it taken care of, though. Regardless, I have found most of the people who steal/copy are too lazy to know WHY what they ripped off was worth stealing. So they don't learn anything and don't get anywhere when things change.
