5k a month is not too hard to reach...all you need to do is try some different offers with ppc and test test test...then work on other offers...it has been said a million times but it really is that simple.

The Game

The reality for all of us is that if you are fortunate enough to make it, you get to play a real life video chess match daily. A constantly evolving business.

I have always kept track of Profit for Revenue is somewhat meaningless in this industry if you do a bunch of paid search...we can all drive unprofitable revenue. Why keep track of profit? Money is the SCORE in my internal video chess match.

$2740 daily is always a goal as that = $1M annually. It starts as revenue and then once you hit that, you want to turn it to profit. Reality is, if you are a 1-man shop, you will max out your resources around here I believe...YOU are maxed...when you grow a new program, an old one will fall off keeping you level.

I do know, $5K per month is a good goal for someone starting out. That should replace their job as get them on track for a leap to bigger. $170 daily really is pretty easy once you figure it out. Yet adding $170 each day, day-over-day gets more difficult as you get bigger.

If just starting, look to add $10 in daily revenue at 50% margin or better and in the end of the month, you will be making almost $5k.

This can be a very big business. It is fun!

There's people here on WF that don't need to announce their income to be valued for their input and information. If their help gets me a few steps closer to making $$$$.....what difference does it make how much they earn?

I personally have passed the hunting and gathering (of information) stage and moved onto farming-I have been slowly planting seeds and preparing new fields. I realize as little as I know, there are those who know less. I got help, so I "pay it forward" instead of back. (yes that old movie inspired me to this day!) and help when I can. Life would be more balanced if more people did that in all areas of life.

At the lower end of revenue earning I think it helps to share. For new people they can see income growth realistically and it will be a motivation to keep going. At a certain point, its wise to stop sharing or share the % of increase, because people want to know, but once they do, they focus on proving its a lie or fake stats.

It's kinda funny how on EF, estimate incomes are publicly shown with the image under the username.

Value of connecting with the right people

This is a somewhat interesting thread and I can tell you the following about making $5k/mo, whether it matters?

If you want to gain knowledge...you can learn from anyone. I talk daily to an organic seo guy who puts together the best content sites I have seen, just does not do enough page volume. He makes about $1800/mo right now, yet I learn more than I do from another guy making $25,000/mo. We talk strategy. He got me into building niche sites with WordPress and plug-ins rather than html...WordPress is a great CMS. This guy is literally 1-day away from breaking it big time...I value his opinion HUGE.

Flip side, I know a complete [idiot] - by that I mean NO skill...literally just old-time luck...2 big merchants still let him TM bid while no one else can - and it makes him $25k. Good for him for establishing the relationships and continuing to leverage that...I wish I had it, but talking at length with him is pointless for his skills have not adapted to today's jungle.

There are numerous examples. Go to CJU, AffSummit, and you will meet great people...various skills, some with no skill...and have a heck of a good time.

In closing, the key to making $5k 9and I am serious here) is Economics. In order to know your economics, you need stats. DO NOT waste any money on an ebook, just work, track, adjust, fine-tune, then expand or go to another program. My buddy who makes $1800 is an ebook junkie; yet if he spent that tie working, he would be a $5k+ junkie :) Get the basic skills, then DO THE WORK, collect the stats, adjust. REPEAT it again.

Oh yeah, and if you make $5k+ it is fine to say so, but it is also fine to say you are unemployed if you want too.

i agree. i think bh/spamming is ok if you're doing it as a hobby or to fulfill short-term goals, but i don't think it's responsible or logical to depend on it for the long term. i guess the most stable income streams are from aged, time-proven content sites bringing steady numbers every month. i wish paid search/aff marketing wasn't so volatile but it probably will stabilize in the years to come...

Good points. This industry is like every other in that you can learn from just about anyone. Don't believe me? Look over a "typical" internet user's shoulder while they are online for 5 minutes. You will be amazed at their mannerisms. I remember that someone (Quadzilla, perhaps?) made a blog post about this recently and I tried it. It's very eye-opening to someone that actually knows the difference between an ad and a relevant link. You will learn a LOT just by watching where their eyes are darting on a page and where their mouse curser is pointed.

but it is also fine to say you are unemployed if you want too.

I'm unemployed. ;)
