How many vendors have you fired? Where are you hiding the good ones?

My company is enduring a rush of business and we're having trouble finding reliable wordpress designers and developers to work with. I do the majority of our in-house stuff and I'm shocked when I have to send something out. I get work back that, after rounds of revisions, would have been more cost effective to do myself from the beginning. Do you guys struggle with finding quality people?

Initially I thought I was just not setting clear expectations. After carefully detailing the objectives of the project and ironing out details I'm still going through 20 devs before I find someone worth sending a second project what gives?

I'd love to hear from other developers, designers, or project managers out there that successfully manage projects like these week after week. Where do you guys find reliable vendors who you can lean on to deliver on time with quality work?

Maybe you should stop getting developers from fiverr
 
Okay best way to find them is to go the programming/coding forums. You will have to weed out the b.s just like anything else.

jacky8, could it be the vendor biting off more than they can chew? We have healthy budgets and most people we work with are glad to continue.

At first I gave a lot of them the benefit of the doubt. At times we're asking our developers to rework code that someone else has written and that's a difficult thing to do.

For someone who's used to throwing a together collection of things that 'work' and selling it to an end user who doesn't know better, a challenge like this might seem like a way to get paid to learn. I get that - I just don't have time to circle back around and clean up after.

Don't tell me you can do it if the project specs are too difficult.
