How rare are DMOZ META Editors?

How rare are "META" editors at DMOZ?

I've been looking for a contact for almost 2 years now with no luck. I was under the impression they weren't THAT rare, maybe 500-1000 of them in total?

Just wondering if anyone knows how many of them there are, ballpark figure of course. I've been able to find plenty of niche editors willing to play ball with me but what I really need is someone who has access to all categories and it's proving to be a fucking PITA. I've never looked this long for something or someone on the internet with no luck, it's starting to drive me crazy.

Surly there is a way to find a META editor willing add non-shit/non-spammy sites to the index for some greenbacks.

Bro seriously, you seem like a fairly intelligent dude, why do you bother to waste time and MONIES with that worthless shithole i-come-from-dinosaur-age directory?

I've come to the conclusion that if you want any power on DMOZ, your best bet is to find a way to BECOME an editor and move your way up.

You can probably outsource it to your most trusted employee if you're too busy

Listen, a listing in YD or DMOZ is a good thing. Is it the holy grail of rankings? Of course not, but I'd be willing to bet it gives a nice little boost to small & medium sized sites.

Google Directory

Obviously Google gives some sort of importance, even if it's a small one, to the DMOZ directory or they wouldn't have cloned it with their logo.

dmoz died completely from the editor point. About 2 years ago the editor section went "under repair" for about 8 months. During that time they left their nifty feature that disables accounts that haven't logged in the last 60 days on and it disabled every account while keeping them listed under their cats for some reason. The process to reenable an inactive account is about as hard and tedious as applying for one in the first place so very few ever came back. By then Google quit giving a shit about dmoz links anyways so all the editors selling links never bothered. So you're not going to find much luck, the editor forums are even completely dead which means theres probably less than a couple hundred total editors rather than the tens of thousands they had before.

Interesting, thanks for the info.
