I know its not really considered high school, but what is the school curriculum like for teenage students in the UK? Is it fairly standardized? Are there certain textbooks that students use?

There is a national curriculum, thats all i can remember.

It's very standardised in England + Wales. There is a national curriculum which dictates exactly what kids should be learning when. There are also national tests at the ages of 7,11,14, followed by GCSEs @ 16, AS Levels at 17, and A Levels at 18.
Just to expand on the post made by amateursurgeon, the 3 main examining boards for England + Wales students through high school are AQA, OCR and EdExcel.
I think Scotland + NI have a different system. Scottish Highers methinks?
