How to avoid "working" in bed. Attach my laptop to my desk?

Hi, fellow gay webmasters!

I work from home on a laptop.

I often find myself taking the laptop away from my desk (which has an ergonomic chair), and start "working" on the couch or in bed.

This really messes up my posture (I already have several spine and lower-back issues). Plus, I soon get out of "work" mode and into "browse mindlessly" mode. Not good for productivity.

I'm thinking of buying a security cable lock that will attach my laptop to the desk. That way, I won't be able to take my laptop to the bed or couch. It will unlock with a key (not combination) and I will have given the key to a friend who lives nearby.

What do you think about this idea?

Any other tips to prevent me from using the couch and bed to "work"?

Thanks!

We have so many things to do and not enough willpower to do it.

If it was that easy, we would all be millionaires with six-packs and perfect relationships. But most of us don't have all these.

Changing our environment (people and surroundings) is the easiest way to change our habits, and that's what my post was about.

Thanks for the answers.

I don't think willpower alone will help you become a millionaire.

I don't work from my bed but I do work from my couch and use my 70 inch tv as my monitor. I find that I have less posture and back problems working from my couch than a normal office chair.

70 inch? damn! Sounds sick...

Doesn't your neck hurt?

Looks so big

I just got a 27" 4k monitor and it already looks huge to me(upgraded from 19") can't imagine 70"

Nah not at all. I find it completely comfortable. Actually I got bad neck pain hunched over a laptop screen years ago and I find this alternative far more appealing. Plus it's hooked up to a powerful gaming PC. I also own a VR headset, but I mainly use that for VR gaming.

Since 12 years i am working on my table ,despite i got lower back pain. Now i am changing my chair to get rid of lower back pain.I only sleep on bed ,dont work on bed.

Oh well that would be a great idea yet still need to have a routine like setting up a time for work and take a rest after.

That's why I use my laptop only for watching movies in the kitchen and nothing else really. I wish I had something like that, but definitely I prefer when work is actual work, i.e. sitting on the PC with everything else around that. That way it helps me to get moved.

Just find your working place at your house, like separate chair and table where you can concentrate, let it be your personal office place
