Read this new thread by Beach Affiliate — which is solid BTW — I started writing a reply, but I figured a separate thread might be better.
Idea:
The idea here is to use humor to generate traffic from social media. We can then put advertisements on the site linking to your main business.
You can do a lot more, but this is a good starting point.
Why this helps:
Inspiration:
Here's are the sites that gave me the original idea...
Content generation:
Coming up with content ideas are just from checking out any patterns in the demographic you're going after. You can try to find threads like "You know you're a doctor when.." ex. There also might already be plenty of joke sites for your niche (ex. lawyer jokes) that you can take a look at and grab inspiration.
The more accurate/true you can make the jokes to the niche the better. 1 for humor, 2 for being more shareworthy.
Thinking how people share:
You probably have experienced this or have seen phrases like:
This is the exact effect we are going for with this site.
My attempt:
Here's an example site I made for a project that didn't end up launching (long story - personal trainer software):
https://web.archive.org/web/20131214043203/http://trainertroubles.com/
The comedy site we made for the trainers though worked really well in getting shared on forums, Reddit, Facebook, etc. We put up banners linking to the site from it and was getting enough clicks to make it worth it - and that was just for pre-launch and not going at it hard.
This isn't just limited to B2B but any demographic you can crack jokes about and bring together. B2B is just difficult sometimes to get traffic and this seems to make more sense for it.
You don't have to do the layout I did for the site either, there's plenty of ways to go about it (ex. https://www.facebook.com/LawyerMemes).
Funny example
Above I linked to thisseolife.com as one of the inspiration sites for this method. Here's an example of it working on this forum and being shared: http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-the-shit/176005-thisseolife-com.html
As you can tell from all my posts that I am probably the funniest person ever. So, maybe this will only work for me and other abnormally hilarious people.

You can do a lot more, but this is a good starting point.
Why this helps:
- Sometimes humor/comedy can tarnish a brands reputation for some demographics, or it just might not be a good choice. Separating it to another site helps keep your branding intact.
- Sites strictly based on humor are more shareworthy on community sites (Reddit, forums, FB, Twitter, etc).
- If you are putting advertisements/links to your main business from the site, it acts as a way to 'filter' traffic before it hits your main business site.

- This Advertising Life (I think this one)

You probably have experienced this or have seen phrases like:
- Message to friend: "Oh my god, we were just talking about this *link to media*"
- Status post: "This is so true *link to media*"
- Forum thread about issue: *Someone posts funny relevant media that describes the thread*
This is the exact effect we are going for with this site.
