I can't stand "off" months.

Monthly profits will always bounce around, but whenever I'm not having a better month than the previous, it aggravates the shit out of me. It's not even the money that pisses me off, but the fact that I'm not moving forward and topping the previous month. This month is one of those and I have the holidays to thank for that. A lot of my sites aren't shopping related so they suffer a bit this time of year. I know it will bounce back in the new year, but I'm still ticked. I've been pretty fortunate that for the past year or so I've increased revenues every month, but I guess it's bound to happen at some point. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.
The way I deal with moments like that is to look at the last 6 months or the year and see how much more money I made than the previous. It always makes me feel a little better, just remind yourself the you are trending upwards and the money your are making online even in a down month is more than most of the people you know will EVER make online.

December was relatively steady for me money-wise but with less traffic, I'm looking forward to 2011 and the normal traffic numbers coming back.

Your desire and motivation is the reason that you are steadily getting paid bro, keep pushin and don't beat yourself up too bad. It's a gift and a curse, but mostly a gift!

For those of you that just want a better December, why not start in Jan to build properties and campaigns focused on December type things, like presents/shopping related.

Im not saying to drop everything to build up for 1 month that will be 11 months away, but throw into the mix at least 1-2 sites/campaigns a month for the next 11 months so that when December is here, you'll be banking.
E I can't really wrap my mind around that one man, I rather take the L for one month. Unless that site was crushin like a MOFO in December I'd rather focus on year round projects and eat month 12. But who knows it just might crush, ya never know....

if you cant take the risk, you'll never for sure know.. amiright?

whats 1 or 2 campaigns more a month gonna really hurt? Get the shit set up and on pause until Nov 25th. Have someone build up a site or 2 for you each month as well and throw some Amit, DFB, blog comments, and other links at it from outsourcers here.

You guys aint seeing the big picture here.

Don't mean to dance on your grave, but I'm happy that I'm not the only one that slumped in late Nov / early Dec. I had some struggles, and my confidence in all things life went down. But no need to worry. It's january and we're back.

Big no-no. Never let the family deal with the ups and down's of your bottom line, keep that shit to yourself.

Good advice, gotta find a way to self medicate, you can do it like a boss with booze and extra marital affairs or you can do it like an emo and cut yourself and cry.

I'm pretty happy to read that I'm not the only one. Hell, I tend to get irritated by the monthly and weekly cycles too. Sometimes even, I'm like WTF?! Why aren't people converting at 3am? I want infinite growth hour by hour.

Quick survey, are you guys noticing a drop in traffic and conversions or just conversions? My traffic has gone way up since my rankings have dramatically increased but I just started monetizing this site on the 20th (rankings jumped on the 24th) and earnings are all over the map from day to day.

Good advice E. Especially SEO folks, build out a few product aff sites in the first quarter of the year and let them age, start linking aggressively at the end of summer. That's my plan at least, probably do 5-10 sites like that just to fill in the gaps. Same mentality applies to school season stuff.

I lul'd

Even though traffic dropped for me in the holiday days, I made around 50% more profit in december. What i did was look at what affiliate programs I was promoting was performing and diverted the traffic to the most profitable one.

Getting lower profit in one month don't tick me off, i know its inevitable. It just drives to me to plan on doing different things to get more profit.

If you watch your money you'll always land on your feet, even in the off months. Just because you might be making good money doing this isn't an excuse to blow your revenue.

How'd you do so far today feez?

Gotta say... I had a MONSTER day (for me, at least) and it's only 7PM PDT so I can book a few more sales, plus whatever shit I got through my smaller Amazon junk.

Man I needed that for my soul. I worked too hard in December for it not to pay off at some point.
