I had a field day on IM's with this guy before ASW. I forget who told me about him first... But I IM'ed him to fuck with him, and he turned out to be the biggest wanker, so of course, I couldn't just let it go and started to REALLY fuck with him. It was amusing. I'm too lazy to post the AIM logs of the convo now, but if someone reminds me later, I'll do it. It's definitely worth the read too. This kid is living in SEO-la-la land.

A couple months ago I tried explaining to my roommate what I do for a living and the next day he got this brilliant idea about how I should sell my services to companies and stuff. I tried explaining to him how thats the last thing I want to do and how fucked up the industry is and the douchebaggery in it but none of it really sank in. He was still determined that it was a great idea and kept asking me about it. I showed him this guys website/video today and he was like ooooooooooooooooh. So now he totally understands.

It was funny though he knows nothing about seo or search engines and he had no problems spotting the bullshit but his reaction was hilarious. "Google knows what i bookmark? That doesn't sound right."

The term "university dating" may have a 101 million other pages that Yahoo thinks are relevant but according to Wordtracker NO ONE ever searches for that.

This is an old SEO trick. Make a site for some term that sounds competitive and show it to potential clients and people you want to impress. But no one ever searches for it or optimizes for it.
