I just read a wonderful book

The problem with most people starting out is that they have a goal to make as much money as possible, in as short a time as possible. This is simply the wrong goal, as it leads to overwork, stress and unhappiness.

The trick is to really think about what you want. I did this about ten years ago and decided that what I really wanted was enough money so that I didn't have to work any more. So my goal was to have nothing that I HAD to do, that my time would always be my own and I would answer to no one but myself.

I am pleased to say that I achieved this goal some time ago and have now written my own book about it. The book is free and does not try to sell you anything but my ideas.

I'd be really pleased to find out what everyone here thinks of it.

It can be found here Lifestyle Millionaire

I'll try and read it within the next few days when I get some free time and let you know my thoughts, too. I'm going to keep up on reading motivational and business books for quite some time to help keep me in the grove of seeking success.

The way I look at is.
Books are like a good diet for your mind.
TV, Porn, Video Games, mind junk food.
You are what you eat.
I can honestly say, books made a difference in my thinking. A smart person learns from his own mistakes, but the wise learns from the mistakes of others. You can say the same about success.

I started with Self Help Books; now I love reading autobiographies and marketing books. My fav bio Benjamin Franklin - lots of never ending wisdom there.

Haven't read E myth - will add to my reading list.

I love reading but I kind of disagree when it comes to video games, I think playing video games on a competitive level is definitely far more mentally stimulating than reading a book.

E-Myth's authority is such a verbose mother fucker. He could've condense his book into one sentence: Build a system not work in it.

I bought his book, waste of $25 dolla. Could've spent that on a lap dance.

A $25 dollar lap dance? Porn is free and the actors won't have missing teeth.

Bah. I agree with you in general...but business and life in general is about the small distinctions IMHO. Little ways of looking at things that may seem trivial, can make a big difference.

I'm kind of a junkie though in the self help / business space. If I can get one unique thought out of something I read or listen to, I consider it worth my time. Quite a few people here get the meat of "it", no doubt about it. But I think generally what separates the men from the boys is the last 1-2%, devil in the details etc etc. Anytime I can talk to someone, read about someone's experiences etc and grow from it, I see it as a big personal win...even if it's just a thought or two.

1) Study & emulate success
2) Continually seek new viewpoints
3) Always be evaluating, adjusting and optimizing
4) And a borderline psychotic, relentless pursuit of excellence & perfection (in my customer's eyes)

^ What I try every day to live by.
