I may get scammed out of $1600

Before you receive your complaint, I would suggest you grab the shipping address you were supplied with, print out a piece of paper for each of the tickets, and mail them.

As soon as you mail the paper, your sale becomes tangible, and you are protected. Make sure you fedex, so you have a tracking number to provide to Paypal if they receive a chargeback.

Edit: If you do this, and you are saved from the chargebacks, I'll expect a cut ;)

I thought of this but then I considered that they would stall or not provide the shipping address.

But now I realize that when you're sent a payment their shipping address is plainly displayed with payment. DOH

WIN!

How's $50 sound? I'm not crazy, I'm appreciative. That's the best advice I received. I'm going to take your advice and send it out in the morning. Let me give it 30 days to see how it plays out. If it's all good, you have my word, $50 NSA. I'm a man of my word.

Do you think I can mail the tix for the game that was already played as long as I beat the chargeback?

You might be a bit out of luck, though the second ticket should be fine.

I would send the first one anyway, and if/when the chargeback comes through, first off tell them you sent the ticket, and provide proof of delivery. If they notice the dates are off, tell them you sent a digital copy of the ticket via email, and then sent the tangible good later.

If you're stuck with the one chargeback, at least the second one should be covered.

wait so paypal always helps out the buyer if he\she makes a dispute, and if it is not a physical item that the sender can show has been sent they take the money? I mean in a case like this, with the identical emails etc, It would seem if paypal just had someone at paypal investigate into this for a few minutes they would be able to figure out that they were with a 99% probability the ones trying to scam you, and not the other way around.

For liability reasons, PayPal simply does not get involved in cases where it is not explicitly required to by contract.

I'm pretty confused though as to why you're in a sticky situation. I recently had a situation where a client took issue with services rendered, and filed a dispute. I skimmed PayPal's UA, determined that they did not offer buyer protection in instances of non-physical goods or services, verified this fact over the phone with a PayPal rep, and then just escalated the dispute to a claim; it swayed in my favor.

Now I'm rereading the UA and it looks like they don't protect buyers OR sellers in sales of non-physical goods. Maybe it's different because it's on ebay - and I really don't know about your situation - but you should probably just pick up the phone and give PayPal a call. I was on hold for ~5 minutes and then spoke with a very knowlegable and helpful "no bull" guy who basically told me how the dispute process would be ruled were it to - hypothetically - be escalated.

Good luck bro.

From the info you seem to have scrutinized - I am 100% affirmative that this is a fraud attempt.

Be safe and change the Barcode as you stated earlier. And tell them that you will be mailing them a secure download link for the tickets in an envelope. In future, sell all your tickets by either sending print outs to mailing addresses or send a sealed envelope with a download link.

Just got back from shipping with tracking via fedex. shipped both sets of hard tickets (even the game already played)

fingers crossed

That should keep you safe from a certain point of view.

But what if those were hacked/phished Paypal accounts. And the owners claimed misuse of those accounts. Or even better chargedback their credit cards as a whole. (What is the source of funds? Card on file or Paypal balance?)

Just so that we give them the benefit of doubt -

There are two best friends or say sisters named Lorraine and Diane in PA.

Lorraine buys a ticket from you and sends you the email. For the next match, Lorraine persuades her BFF/Sister to buy the tickets and send you the same email.

You make money - the BFF/Sisters enjoy the match.

On another note, is there anyway you could check if the tickets were used?

Your going to get a chargeback no matter what you do because this is a stolen credit card

A while back I had picked up some tickets to an Opie & Anthony live show in Boston for $10 each and grabbed 4 of them.

Last minute I couldn't make it so I threw them up on Craigslist for like $160. I immediately had a women email saying she would take them but was going to be leaving her house in a few minutes for the day and the show was that night.

I said deal, paypal me the cash. I then got an 'e-check' in Paypal that took 7 days to clear.... I really wasn't sure what to do, but since no one else emailed me yet, I emailed them to her and figured it might be a $40 loss.

She emailed me back the next day and said her kids (probably teens) loved the show and thanked me for the quick sale. She also apologized for the e-check I questioned her about and said it was her 2nd time ever using paypal. The money stayed and I got it.

Your situation seems slightly more dire. As a money received paypal really doesn't give a shit about you (not like you are the one they are getting paid from or anything right?). When I was dealing with the Volsh hosting company on here, the guy shutdown shop and turned off servers one day when I had a credit with him. I got Paypal on the phone trying to get some cash back and they were like "even though he was a verified account he has closed his account and disassociated his banks from us....there is nothing we can do".

Either way man, best of luck. Never fun.

Yea, situations usually get tricky when it comes to echecks but the good thing about accepting them is that the person will not be able to chargeback those funds ever. So you don't have to worry about anything that OP is about to face.

Are you retarded? I would never do such a transfer online only. Meet up in person at a public place (bring a friend), print out the tickets, and exchange for cash only.

Paypal will protect the seller if it is sent to the confirmed address. Chargeback/Stolen CC or Account or not.

Incorrect - seller loses most every time with paypal regardless of the address sent to or if you have tracking

I have enough experience to know.

There is more than one way to get your SSN. They have your credit card on file, name, DOB and that is all they need find out and to add it to your credit report

This - when those CBs come and your account goes negative PP can very likely easily put this on your credit report if they wish. SS# is in no way needed for them to do that - that's a common misconception. Not saying they will but just don't be so confident they can never get to you and make this all your problem.

Email them back you have reason to believe that they may be being frauded or something and you have to talk to them on the phone to verify. If they won't then cancel them

Also if you're paying for something through Paypal always use AMEX or another credit card that way you can charge back through them cause paypal won't give a shit about you if you get screwed. Paypal will try to make you always use your bank account but you can change it.

i have a claim right now on a bullshit SEO service from buy sell trade so I hope this is true

Credit Card chargeback trumps over EVERYTHING. I've been though, and have seen many cases where a credit card chargeback will reverse the charges no matter the circumstance. If it's a digital product, you're 100% screwed. If it's a physical product, then you better have a tracking # + solid proof that the card holder actually sent the payment, not someone else. Otherwise as soon as that chargeback comes through, Paypal will never pay it out of their pocket without at the very least send you to collections. If you have a bank account attached to your paypal account, I'd recommend removing it if you plan to keep the money no matter what.

In the OP's situation, sending a Fedex package right now with the tickets will only help you if the buyer opens a dispute within Paypal. If the buyer decides to dispute the charge with the CC company, then that Fedex package will do jack shit for you.
