You're missing the point. I haven't heard anyone say he shouldn't be charged with the shooting. The point is that the media is always so quick to try and turn shit like this into a "hate crime". Murder is murder is murder. Charge the guy, and if it turns out self defense in court, so be it. Since when are white people the only people who can hate someone for their race? The only reason that guy had to think the victim was "up to no good" was his race in a gated community. A murder is a murder - and he should be charged. But blaming the white man for everything is getting old. Once again, the media just jumped to conclusions and saw the last name and assumed that if a white guy killed a black guy it MUST be racially motivated. Maybe it was racially motivated, but now that they know he isn't white they stopped beating that drum. Why do you suppose that is?

I agree with almost everything you guys are saying regarding this case. Zimmerman should be arrested by now. The fact that he isn't in some sort of custody is bullshit.
However, I'm not convinced that this was a race crime (even though he allegedly said "fucking coons"). He's called 911 over 40 times in the past year. He appointed himself Neighborhood watch captain. He's clearly a paranoid psycho, and I'm not convinced that this exact thing wouldn't have happened on this particular night if the kid would have been white.
At least this finally gives the black community something to be legitimately upset about. They (obviously not all of them) usually support people like OJ Simpson and Michael Vick and make themselves look like idiots.
