Totally. 1 witness statement is irrefutable proof of ANYTHING, no matter the rest of the evidence.
I agree with you, one witness testimony isn't the end all be all. He could be lying, or more likely it's hard to remember everything correctly when you are in a traumatic experience. Or he could be telling the truth.
My point was that this testimony, as well as Trayvon's dad confirming that the cries for help weren't his sons (so they had to be Zimmerman's), means that this case wasn't the "racist man killing innocent black teen".
I think it's wrong that Trayvon was shot, we all have been in plenty of fights... people don't need to die over a few fists thrown.
I think the investigation was handled very poorly. Evidence wasn't collected properly and if an unarmed person was shot it's a good idea to detain the shooter for at least 24 hours.
For all we know, Trayvon could have been scared for his life when he saw a man following him at night, he may have been trying to defend himself.
I wasn't there, so believe half of what you see and none of what you hear until you get the full story. That's why I made this thread.. we all need to wait before we pass judgement. The story has changed a half dozen times since it first broke, and the changes have been significant.
At this point, I think it's going to be hard to convict Zimmerman of murder. They will probably try to pin a variety of other charges on him, because if he walks there will be riots in the streets. Even if Zimmerman is cleared of all charges, he will not be able to live a remotely normal life. Society has already crucified him.
Most of us on this forum are men, most of us drink/party, and most of us occasionally get into a little trouble (drunk bar arguments or fights). I know that i'm going to be a lot more careful about getting into conflicts, because you never know what's going to happen.
A few weeks ago in Knoxville, a bouncer got into a fight with an underage guy trying to get in a bar. The bouncer knocked the kid out, he hit the curb, and now has permanent brain damage.
I admit that I came off as very confrontational in this thread, it just really ticked me off that race had to come into the equation when this would be a tragedy regardless of the color of Trayvon's skin.
