I think it's time to quit my job.

150-250 a month in food . . . eating ramen all the time?

If that's a ramen budget, he's getting ripped off. If you buy in bulk you can go as low as $30-$50 a month.

Gonna revive this thread and say congrats bro. I quit my shitty corporate job back in May, I'm 35, got a full family and shit. But quitting was the best thing I ever did and hope you feel the same way about your decision too.

efeezy, i wish you good luck!

i'm in a similiar boat like you, except my figures are significant higher (job & AM). still i don't feel comfortable to leave my job because i rely on too few traffic sources and profitable campaigns.
on the other it's hard to bring your AM game to another level when you're tired every evening and only spend a few hours a week.

There's nothing wrong with that. It doesnt always make sense to quit your job and choose AM, you're usually pushed into it without choice for one reason or another, the main reason being you're laid off, etc.

Quitting a job to pursue AM is easier if you're single and can afford to fail without it affecting others. Or, if you've "banked" enough by doing AM on the side with your FT job you can afford to coast a few months.

Or because you want to become your own boss?

My savings should alow me to live a couple of years with a reasonable lifestyle. But that's not what they're for actually.

What is holding me back is the fact I won't get similar (paid) jobs in my industry (IT/banking) anymore once I've been away from it for a while. Also mentality is different in Switzerland, e.g. CV is very important. If you have done your own thing for a couple of years and then start applying for a job again, it will be hard to get a good position.

On the other hand, without risk there's no win. I'm just saying if I were young (like 22) and had an average office job earning $5-6k the decision would be way easier.

Yeah good point. I think many of us find that being their own boss is awesome, initially, then fades, and you realize "Holy shit, ok, I'm the boss. What now? Fuck, I gotta make money!"

Far more important.

Any clown can sit at a chair and proclaim "I am the boss" we soon discover. It's being a "successful boss" that's the rub.
