Hey Everyone,

Want to go to Hawaii this summer with the family and stay on
Waikiki beach. Four kids, wife and I. Who would have some
good suggestions for the best deals or prices?

This would include flying out of Vegas and a 10-14 day stay
sometime in the middle of July.

Problem is there are a million things online to look at for these
kinds of deals and I don't know what's real or what's shit.

And go to Maui, go to Haleakala and drive to Hana. Last time I was there we stayed in Waikiki for 4 or 5 days, went to Maui for 4 or 5 days and went to the big island, which was pretty nice. My sister says Kauai is spectacular with great beaches and the grand canyon on Hawaii.
 
If you do go to Oahu (Waikiki / Honolulu, etc.), take a day to rent a car and drive the circular highway around the island. Some spectacular scenery and great places to stop and eat food.

If you like shrimp, don't miss Giovanni's Shrimp Truck

Stop in Turtle Bay to check out Hawaii Resorts | Turtle Bay Resort | North Shore Oahu Resort, delicious food up in that bad boy. Stay there in a beach villa if you have the $, it's well worth it.

For the kids, don't forget to stop in at The Dole Pineapple Plantation.
 
My wife and I took the kids to Kauai 2 years ago and they had fun. Kauai is quiet though and there's less to do than the other islands. If you want more to do but don't want to stay in "West Los Angeles" (aka Honolulu) I would go to Maui.

FYI - I have been looking at deals lately and, for straight airfare bookings (not vacation packages) I've seen the best deals flying on Hawaiian airlines out of the N. California bay area (OAK, SFO and SJC). Hawaiian will do direct flights to Maui from the bay area too. You can also take Vegas-Honolulu flights but you'll pay more...

Waikiki is fine to use as a base of operations, but you really need a car to explore the island. Driving around the perimeter of the island is a pretty amazing experience. It'd be a waste of your money just to stay on the beach the entire time.

Things I recommend on Oahu:

- Polynesian Cultural Center
- Pearl Harbor
- Diamond Head
- North Shore
- USS Bowfin Submarine Museum
- US Army Museum of Hawaii


You also owe it to your kids to go to the big island and see volcanoes. Be sure to also go at night so you can see the nice orange glow. My brother was in the armed forces so we got to sleep at Kilauea Military Camp - www.kmc-volcano.com which is one of my favorite places to spend a few days. My wife was scared the entire time though...
 
I've been to oahu more times than I can count and got property on the big island. Just a fyi, each island is unique in its own way - so what do you wanna see? Each island is unqiue. Also if its oahu, waikiki and honolulu is a fun tourist place (like your strip on vegas). On the outskirts, its fucking gross (like vegas).

My favorite places on Oahu:
1. Waikiki/Honolulu for a partying situation (like vegas); nightlife.
2. Best beach imo: Kailua (Lanikai) Take H1 to the other side of the island
3. Go fuck around in the forest (see #2, this will lead you through the best parts)
4. Go to hanauma bay for snorkeling (closed wednesdays though).
5. North shore for the falls or surfing small boards in the winter (if you wanna surf long boards waikiki is my fav).

I know of more, hit me up when you reserve your shit.
 
My friend has a 2 bedroom condo on the beach and wants a great price, I think $1400 for 2 weeks. PM me with your dates. Thx

If you think everything but the strip is gross you have a flawed view of Vegas.
