If I Ran the World......

If I ran the world I would......

- Make governments free and by this I mean that all government services would be for free, school, road construction, ect... would not cost anything, instead things like this which also includes medical research, and other things we could do much better would be resource based and not monetary based.

This means that if we need a new school or hospital the government would build it, plain and simple, the government would create and do instead of worry about the cost.

This can work if the government still regulated the economy, the flow of how much money was in the economy, ect... if all this was still regulated properly and the governments looked at resources instead of profits things would improve.

I got a A+ in my economics course with this same argument/example, however that was a very long report which explained this in much more detail but thats what I would do, make the world a much more amazing place.

tough sell, you'd have to stop the banks from being able to create money into the system. fighting the banking industry is worse than fighting city hall.

what's funny is in 4 you promote socialism but in 5 you promote democracy

Why is that funny? There are loads of democratically elected socialist governments. Democracy and socialism (or capitalism, liberalism, etc) are not mutually exclusive.

Democracy would only truly work on a world scale if everyone was at the same level and it was one person, one vote, full stop/period.

yeah but the problem with everyone having an equal vote is that many people are idiots.

Fuck it, I'll play.

If I ran the world the whole thing would be one giant Somalia, after Barre but before the Muslims took over. Every man for himself. Starving is a result of lack of motivation. Survival is a goal in and of itself.

We rose out of a life like that and over the course of a few thousand years, and did some pretty amazing things. And then some douchebag bleeding hearts and clean water advocates and A+ economic students came in and fucked the entire civilisation up from top to bottom, universally blaming the one thing that ever led mankind to produce anything worth keeping -- the profit motive -- on the very ills that they themselves created and exacerbated.

In other words, if I ran the world, I'd give humanity a do-over.

On second thoughts, if I ran the world and wanted what was best for Earth (say, I was God or something) then I'd wipe out the one species that is really fucking up the planet....

true free markets lead to freedom and democracy, look at china, it's slowly moving towards democracy.

not many free democracies are socialist, name a few. france is kinda socialist with their dirigisme shite and look how fucked up they are. the unemployment rate among the youth is shocking, sarkozy was elected on a reforming policy to change it all.

Democracy would only truly work on a world scale if everyone was at the same level and it was one person, one vote, full stop/period.

What's stopping the poor countries catching up with the rich? Nothing but themselves.

If I ran the world....

I would have a fucking field day as the world's supreme dictator.

Definitely a dream of mine. Even tried having my 8th grade yearbook put down "Dictator of Small Country" as "what do you want to be when you grow up?" -- Everyone else put stupid impossible shit like Doctor, Psychologist, Mom.. what a bunch of pussies. They also rejected my 2nd choice "Hitman/Rogue Asassin". I think they ended up sticking "Surgeon" there.. assholes!

and for all doggies!

What your talking about is true communism *doesn't work*

Agreed.
5. Introduce some form of direct democracy government....then I would no longer run the world.

...and nothing would get done! Direct democracies are among the most inefficient forms of government.

Nope you wouldn't have to, the banks wouldn't loose control because if they did the economy would go down hill you would still have to regulate the amount of money in the economy but the governments wouldn't go in debt, it would take serious strategic planning and work to pull it off but its possible.

Some countries your already allowed to go to college, highschool, ect... for free, its just a matter of making slight changes to the system at a higher level while keeping the lower levels consistant.

Its too much to explain on a forum lol.

Sorry I was referring to my previous post - everyone on the same level as in average income the same in all parts of the world, not as in communism.

If everyone had access to the technology to vote in referendums (eg. online) on key decisions then direct democracy could work.... long long way to go before any of that though.

if i ran the world ... i'd realize that the whole world does not revolve around america

If I ran the world, I'd be taking money out of the military and putting it into Aeronautic & Space research.
This world's screwed, and running out of resources. We need to get off this planet before it becomes totally uninhabitable, and the only way to really do that is start harvesting resources from other planets and NEAs.

Also, a lot of that space research would end up doubling up as weaponry that could bring recalcitrant groups into line anyway. Think about it... Big solar harvesting satellites in orbit that beam energy to earth as a microwave beam, to be reconverted into electricity on the ground. Not fantastically efficient, but clean, and there's plenty of room to park satellites in.
You'd also be able to use that beam as a laser...

Frank, are you serious?

In the 20th century, we invented more, did more, advanced more in every way shape and form imaginable, than we had for the rest of human history preceeding it!
The difference is that in the 20th century, we stopped with the "survival of the fittest" nonsense and started helping one another.

Whilst the self profit motive is certainly a strong drive, it needs to be tempered with a bit of social welfare. Not the BS kind of welfare that Governments hand out in foodstamp form. I just mean people looking out for one another like they did in 1950s TV shows.
Seriously, looking in from the outside, North America's greatest periods have always been when you folk rallied to help each other for a common cause, not screw each other over and try to do better than your neighbours.

The USA was once loved (in a gestalt sense) by other countries.
Hell, the French gave you a giant metal lady. Biggest gift of pussy ever!
That's all been pissed away by successive federal governments seeking to advantage certain groups (not even all of America's populace, just certain groups) over working towards a truly globalized society.

Mandatory schooling should be 6 months. Kid goes to school for 6 months, then they should fuck off instead of going to school for 12 years.
