Gumby: I get the feeling Alex isn't going to ask those questions (although he's welcome to)... but I'll answer them, seeing how you asked so politely and all...

1) How odd that I should like actively participating in a community. I like it here. [i/]Most[/i] of the people here, whilst jerks in their own way, are actually nice people that I find witty, informative and entertaining... Excuse me for wanting to be a part of that, as I actually nowadays have problems doing that sort of shit IRL because of people that treated me in the exact same way as you're demonstrating face-to-face.
Am I asking for people to sympathise with me over that? Fuck no, I just want you to understand why I happen to be so enthusiastic about being a part of a community where I don't have to deal with my constant neurosis about dealing with other people.
As for the threads themselves, geez, I'm either making an actual contribution to said thread, or at the very least appreciating it (if it's a video or boobz thread)
Which brings me to the signature... That's how I make a living, so to advertise it makes sense. Don't like it, don't click it. It's not like the people HERE are dumb enough to go "Ohh wow! $27.50 is heaps good money, I click now and win big and then listen to doofdoof!". It's no different from a number of people promoting their blogs in their sigs either, as that's how a few people here are making theirs.
If the fact that it helps along the SEO of the page bothers you so much, petition Jon to add a nofollow to the forum.
But just for you, I'll remove it for a month or so... Happy?

1a) My questions: Is it that I seemingly came out of nowhere that bothers you?
Do I have to be a member of the "blogosphere" or a "marketing guru" to actually know what I'm talking about or be deserving of respect or have any ideas that are worth listening to?
Does my life have to be public for me to be a real person?

2) You might find me annoying, other people have found me helpful, and I'm sure more simply don't care either way.
Yes, I DO know a lot. I'm probably over educated for my station in life, and I continue to learn on a daily basis. Both from here, an my own private research. If you don't constantly learn new things, your brain turns to mush.
As for real life, no... You'll find that IRL, I'm a 6'1" pasty white guy that has trouble talking to people and has difficulty maintaining eye contact for anything past a cursory glance thanks to dicks like you.
What REALLY shits me is that, on an intellectual level, I can identify the exact problem. I haven't always been this way... I just can't seem to do anything to change it. So here I am, in an environment where I can still interact with people that I happen to enjoy the "company" of.

3) If it legitimately made me the kind of money that they claim to make, #5, but I'd be asking for flavoured condoms first...
I'd buy a house in Toorak, pay off my folks' mortgage, hire a fat Croatian guy to violently sodomize you, and then start a charitable foundation so people don't have to get scurvy at Uni like some of my mates did because Centrelink isn't enough to live off unless you can walk to campus.

However, it's obvious that you care way too much about what people think about you. You'd have less problems with people (including the ones IRL) if you stopped trying to justify yourself to everyone.

ChrisS: Thanks mate... Yeah, it's pretty much the root cause of why I can't deal with people IRL. I KNOW what the problem is, just can't FIX it. Kinda like I know when alternator in my car has buggered up (no battery charging, all the direct electricals are out, gears not changing correctly), but short of taking it out and putting in a new one, I'd have no idea how to fix it.

HarveyJ - Damn, you should have just said "Fuck You, Asshat", gave me the finger, and moved on. But since you took the time to clarify your position, I'll do the same.

I remember when you first signed up, it was before I had time to be the douche that I am here. I would log on in the evening, click "new posts" and see your name as the last poster for the whole first page of new posts (and then some). I mean really, you had to say something in every single thread, you couldn't just read it and go to the next one?

It looked to me like most of your (early) posts were just some observation that was made to get you in the thread. Are you saying that you would have made over 900 posts in 4 months if you didn't have that link in your sig? Tell me I'm wrong, I'll take your word for it.

I'll give you credit though, at least you read and responded to the post rather than just the thread title unlike so many of the sigspammers that pollute this board.

I know that all of these ebook gurus recommend that, to build backlinks and get traffic, you should sign up at forums relevent to your niche and make on-topic posts with your link in the sig, but if you do that you need to be prepared to get flamed by people who use that forum who don't care for that.

I don't have a problem with people having links in their sigs, I have a problem when I have to sift through page after page of "New Posts" where the new post is only there to get a fucking siglink in the thread.

I guess I'm lucky, I don't need to use this forum to build backlinks or build a downline, I'm just here to have fun (sure my version of fun may be a little sick/twisted) and share some info every now and then. It just burns my ass when I see people polluting this great forum with the same bullshit that renders almost every other community worthless. I wish they'd implement something here that makes the use of a link in a sig a privilege, maybe only allow it after a certain amount of time, like 3 months, plus a certain amount of rep. That would cut out a lot of the sigspamming.

I will say, though, that I do believe that you have become a productive member and you don't post like you did when you first burst into the forum and there's no need to remove your sig now, especially on my account.

As for Questions 2 & 3, I just wanted to get a rise outta ya, lol. Guess I need to keep an eye out for a fat guy with an accent. You'd better send more than one though, I'm no pussy and my asshole's exit only.

Seriously, I actually appreciate the long winded reply, because it shows that a) we can talk about this in a mature fashion because you're not a complete arsehole b) there's something we both can do to resolve our differences.

I'd like to think that I contribute to these forums, and certainly a lot more than a genuine sig spammer.
Even you have to admit that I do have stuff that's been a worthwhile contribution to these forums (like that spider short film heheh), and that that's something a sig spammer just doesn't do...

If I weren't into aff marketing, then no, I wouldn't be here. If I was doing it just for sig spamming, I wouldn't be here either. There are much better forms of SEO than that. Hell, even I knew that before coming here.

So for you, my sig will stay as it is till July 6th, but then it's going back, because that's how I make my money, and I've got pride in it.

Either way, regardless of all the standard WF bullshit we're both going to get for talking this out like grown ups, I'm glad to know that we can actually get over this with a modicum of maturity.
