I've noticed that many here seem to be all about "bling" and living large (or at least saying that they do)...

How many people are all about making the monies and spending as little as possible? The ones that are often called cheap by friends and family because all they do is save?

Dare I say.

Who else lives by Warren Buffett's two rules of money?

Rule #1: Never lose money.
Rule #2: Never forget rule number one.

3 cars ... 2 of them are classic benz' - 1/2 million miles between them ... about to pick up a scooter for the fuck of it (truly ballin' I know, but shit, they look fun).

House big enough for me and my lil girl in a great part of town

Bills paid, cash in bank & buried in in the yard. Multiple streams of revenue coming in each month. Diversifying away from traditional networks is the best thing I've done in the past year. My total expenses per month are < mid 4 figures ... easily.

Fuck bling! Vanity is the worst disease WF members suffer from, no doubt. I love you guys, but that's the truth.

The cash buried in the yard part made me laugh. I am the same also. Seems like most people on here dabble in nice cars, watches, etc but I honestly can't see myself doing that right now no matter how much I'm earning. I sleep a lot better at night knowing that if everything comes crashing down that I will have the majority of my money saved in the bank. I also just feel like I am getting robbed when I buy expensive things. Just sayin :2twocents:

affiliate networks or ad networks? (i agree no matter which, just curious what you meant)

Affiliate networks, they're scum for the most part (not all, but most). I know I'm not making any friends by saying that around these parts, but fuck people, haven't you guys been watching the recent happenings???

I do equal parts ppc/seo/membership/digital products and sleep well every night. I could take 6 months off and play poker (tempting) and the cash would still be coming home to papa.

I love what I do though and will still be hacking long after I'm "retired".

Having a hobby that requires money is nothing to be ashamed of, but I literally know a guy that makes 60K+ a month and over-drafted his bank account after "ballin" hard on a jet-setting vacation.

There's something special about waking up knowing your passive income will exceed your liabilities as well as that of your children.

I've made as much as I spent doing everything from high stakes poker to heavy nights in Spearmint Rhino and I went broke once the money slowed down...

I learned my lesson and now I strive to be frugal and aggressive with how I invest, not how I spend.

Hopefully the younger members are abhorring this advice so they don't learn the hard way.

Had it lost it, made it back and lost it again (not im). Doing okay now but need to ramp it back up (trying with im). Wife and two kids, little place in the keys and a modest sailboat to get lost on for a month every once in awhile. Never got into the posing. Love bling, makes me lol. Flip flops, rum, and diving for dinner beneath the boat will just have to do. We do what we want within limits and everything is paid for.

you a rapper?

Im all about saving, and building a nest egg, but at the end of the day whats the real point of all this, if your not going to buy some shit for yourself. I know for me I invest a lot of what I earn, but dont mind going on a spree when the 25% memorial day sale rolls around on Eastbay, goddam Michael Jordan gets all my monies.

And the OP mentioned warren buffet, I for one would kill myself if I had the money has, and still lived in a 3 bedroom in Nebraska, and drove a what, 98 ford somethin or other.

If your financially sound, but can also afford the "finer things in life" IMO you should buy them.

i agree that the affiliate networks aren't providing much value nowadays. with off-the-shelf tracking software giving affiliates and advertisers materially the same visibility and tracking functionality that the networks do, most of the networks provide no value beyond affiliate exposure now.

they used to be good for vetting the advertisers' ability and willingness to pay in a timely fashion, no more.

there used to be an understanding that affiliates would be paid if their vetting of an advertiser proved insufficient, no more.

they used to be relied on, by advertisers, to provide ample fraud detection and screen affiliates and their traffic sources properly, no more.

so now you have to ask yourself, as an advertiser or an affiliate, is it worth the giving up that piece of your margin to someone for setting up the relationship and handling accounting of your leads?

depending who you are and what resources you have available to you: sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

I don't really strive to be frugal but it's just not my "thing" to be flashy. I make enough money to where I don't have to think twice about buying some of the finer things in life, but I don't buy needlessly.

It may be because I was raised very poor. I dunno.

I like spending my money more on DOING things rather than just COLLECTING STUFF.

Oh, and IKEA ftw. I still shop there regularly for this and that.

Ingvar Kamprad is one of the richest people in the world and is frugal enough to give Buffet lessons. I can only hope to become as disciplined as he is.

Unballin'!

He has a $4m house in california too, and flys around with netjets, definitely not suicide worthy.
