Both are partly geographically in Europe... (most of Russia isn't, although the more inhabited parts are). Israel isn't in Europe at all.

I agree though, apart from the cricket they didn't really have tough competition.

It's just kinda unusual to see a national side compete in 3 separate sports on the same day.... and win!
