Interesting thought. I'm sure the scientific community will have some answers soon. Seems too big of a coincidence.
It's pretty amazing to see how slow the shockwave actually travels.
In this one, you can see the meteor come in at 4:40 or so but the sound/shockwave doesn't hit until 7:00

For those wondering about the multiple blasts.. think of the events of the sound you hear as happening 2-3 mins before you heard it. The first huge blast is the sound of it first hitting the atmosphere. The smaller ones are the crackles/sound of pieces of it exploding on the way down. The shockwave itself caused some sounds when it reaches you though from shattering windows/buildings/etc.
