I know this sounds silly, but for all you nocturnals out there, there may be a solution..
I'm myself a night owl, it just seems that around midnight, all my juices start to flow, and I can easily sit down and work on something till the wee hours.. But, with 2 kids, it's impossible for me to sleep in, and since I can't survive on 2-3 hours sleep a day, I've had to adjust..
Try light-proofing your workspace/your office/wherever you do most of your work.. What I mean by that is.. If your curtains allow light through, you need to ensure they do not. If your blinds only block out 80% of the light, you need to work on that.. Whatever it takes, make your workspace as dark as it would be durnig the night.. Then, if you do not want disrupting phone calls, REMOVE THE PHONE from that same room.. Make sure you have a stereo nearby, or use your PC for music listening.. You can even go so far as to sound proof your workspace to avoid hearing busy traffic outside, or other nuisances.. Maybe start getting up at 4-5am and get started while it's still "night time" sort of speak.. You'll be amazed of what you can get done by noon, and still have the remainder of the day to run errands, nap, play etc..
It takes about 21 days to break a habit or create a new routine, so you HAVE to commit to seeing this through for at least 3 weeks if you want a decent chance of making it succeed. It takes time to change your sleep pattern, eating habits etc., but i can be done..
Here's a decent article on how to break a habit, or create a new one:

WHY would you want to do this? Because you want to..
If you enjoy working at night, and sleeping while most others are awake, then by all means, don't change a thing.. Some nightowls just wouldn't have it any other way, but just know that there ARE ways to trick yourself into working during DAYLIGHT! hah
