I think the melatonin is the best quick-fix solution to finally get you some decent rest. But in the long run I'd vote for some tough exercise during the day and doing some autogenic training before going to sleep.
Also, sometimes it's psychological pressure, but I can't speculate on that.

In general, it helps to have something of a regular sleep schedule (one of the key insights of chronobiology), which means that you get up at the same time every day - no exceptions. Get your sleep cycles back in order.

In case nothing else helps, you can still try an ultradian sleep pattern, meaning that you'll sleep (or at least rest) several times a day for about 20 minutes.

Da Vinci did it, so did Edison, so it can't be that bad. ;)
 


I need help..
I'm able to stay awake for 3-5 days straight, and yeah, I'm exhausted, but I still can't fall asleep, or even stay asleep for more than 5 hours at a shot!! I have no idea why either.
Dude it's because you want $$$ . I know how it is...here it's the same ..and once you have $$$ you want more money and you get greedy. Take 1-2 days off dude and you'll recover for a few months, go in the open field and have a picnic with your friends (beer necessary). You'll feel better.

Oh and ...get laid once in a while....it helps:P

Eating brownies makes me sleepy.

And a good purple indica if you haven't tried it, might work.

I have to exhaust myself at the end of the day, physically. So exercise is recommended.

other herbal remedies are melatonin and valarium root.
get the sub lingual versions, not the time release.

warm milk with nutmeg?

Anyone know of a good way (aside for telling me to get some sleep - wiseasses) to kick this crazy Insomnia stretch I've been having for the last

Any advice would be much appreciated. Any home remedies or advice too. I'm willing to try just about anything EXCEPT for sleeping pills (I'm pretty against taking drugs). And smoking pot keeps me awake too, so I can't even do that. Ugh!!

I haven't read any of the replies, and I am not sure my trick will keep you asleep either (you need to be phisically tired to sleep long and deep) but when you cannot get to sleep you can... breathe your own breath!

After a while it'll be morning.
This works because co2 just sends you to sleep. It might not work straight away, so resurface for a bit to catch some air and dive again for more CO2. Repeat.
It builds up in your blood and you will eventually fall asleep.
I learned this from an 80 year old guy who said he discovered it too late in life. Many people already do this without knowing.
There is no danger whatsoever and after a time it'll come natural to do.

You tried sport or something? I suggest fitness atleast..

It works for me, if I work arround the house something for most of the day, play basketball, football it's all easier. You can work better, get some quality slepp.. I hear good food is helping too.. And that's tested out! :rasta:

take benadryl, its really safe. Ive had crazy imsomnia problem. Ive been taking benadryl every night for 5 years. It works really well
 
My old uni lecturer recommended a wank and a large whiskey...

I have similar probs mate, if I lay off the stimulants then a lot of alcohol helps.

ok, going under the blankets for a bit takes a little courage but you won't die I promise :D it is truly the best thing you can do without taking any shit pills.
 
Go outside and mow your lawn and do a bunch of fucking yard work. That shit always make me pass out.
 
Also get valium, but i use it now only when i have to go food shopping, or to the mall.
