iPhone 4S = disappointment = Android here I come

lolwut

they made the smoothest phone on the market twice as fast. I was going to get the galaxy s 2 but now they are launching the new iphone on sprint so fuck that, getting the best phone in the world.

Android phones are the equivalent of windows computers, the people who love them are the people who haven't used an apple product before

lol wut? Fuck the iPhone, seriously. Fuck the iPhone, fuck iTunes. I use to have an iPhone, Android wins hands down.

I seriously doubt the intelligence of any person who isn't impressed with the new iPhone 4S. Take a minute to think about what you're unhappy about. The new A5 processor is twice as fast, and the graphics are up to 7x as powerful. The camera is fucking amazing and if Siri works as good as it looks like it does, it has the possibility of changing the way that people interact with their phones.

That's without mentioning any of the integration with iCloud and iTunes Match.

What are you mad about? The phone doesn't look any different? Wtf?

Just like dchuck said, if you don't see how much better OS X and iOS are than Windows and Android, youve either never tried them full time, youre lying to yourself, you're a masochist, or you're just an idiot.

I'm a long time PC user and tend to use whatever works best for 'me' technology wise.

My main workstations are all PC's (Windows 7, SBS 2011 and I even have a couple XP boxes still hanging around). Have used Linux and Mac and while both have its uses (linux for a bunch of computer forensic work I do for instance) I'm just at home in the interface on Windows, which is 100% PERSONAL preference.

Used lots of different cell phones and for the last 3 years I've had a iPhone 3G and then 3GS which I love. Since my contract with AT&T is up I've tried to decide what kind of phone to get next.

Love the new 7.5 Windows Mango interface but the hardware right now still leaves a bit to be desired for my taste.

Samsung Galaxy S 2 - beautiful screen, great camera, wonderful phone, LOVE the idea of expandable memory and being able to switch micro SD cards

Apple iPhone 4S - Looks to be a great phone but I was still disappointed since I was hoping for a NEW phone/form factor. My guess is that come June we'll see the new i5 pop up similar to the 3GS/$ upgrade path.

Looking at this article: iPhone 4S vs. the smartphone elite: Galaxy S II, Bionic and Titan -- Engadget all those phones are very close spec wise.

Talked to my wife about it tonight and while I still may change my mind - for now my plan is to upgrade to the new 4S. Spec wise it almost as good OR better then the other phones. However, the number one thing is - convenience.

All my crap is on the iPhone and my wife is VERY familiar with 'how to do' things on it. Upgrading to a new phone will be a breeze vs. the learning curve she and I would have with the Galaxy S2. Another VERY MINOR point is that I rather use Apple vs. having Google dominate all niches.

The one major thing I was looking for was a GREAT build in camera. Apple looks to finally have a good camera in one of their phones. Most of the time we are taking candid snapshots of the kids/animals/whatever else is going on and it's important to me that we can actually PRINT these and preserve the memories. We currently have a bunch of great moments captured in a really crappy resolution due to the bad camera in the 3GS.

However, if someone can make some REASONABLE arguments that I should go over to the 'Dark side' and buy a S2 - I'm all ears....

I, too, fail to be blown away by Apple products like so many of my friends at the local coffee shop. Also, I have issues with using a Google powered phone. To make matters worse, there is still no release date for the Blackberry 9900 on ATT.

I'm totally screwed. Wish my Sidekick II still worked.

I'll stick with my iPhone 4. I am happy with it and will probably just keep it for another 2 years.

Thing does what I want it to without any glitches, so I am happy.

The 4s is kinda "meh", but a solid upgrade for those in the market for a new phone.

iOS5 on the other hand looks great and I am looking forward to playing with it.

Everyone expected the iPhone 5, but they were wrong...it's the iPhone 4S. The "S" stands for "Suckers."

That's pretty sexy, however as a developer, I fucking HATE .NET more than java, and I'm pretty damn anti java.

Siri is fail, anyone who think it will work well is a moron. If they can't even do text-to-speech right, they sure as fuck aren't going to do translation right.

I got a Iphone 3GS right now and must say 2 sides of the medal for me:

GOOD:
- stylish
- not broken yet
- never freezes
- got half my life in this phone

BAD:
- fuck itunes
- nothing you can do without apple allowing you to do so
- no, I won't crack the phone
- if it freezes as happened one time on airport, you need to buy a new phone for your travel = sucks

or when it freezes you could do something called a reset.

CLKeenan,

On the 11th the Nexus Prime will be officially announced, (Samsung GT-I9250).

4.6" Super AMOLED 1280x720 (320dpi), Ice cream sandwich, 4g, 1.5GHz dual core, 1GB+ RAM, not sure It'll be purchasable with in a month though.

Basically the Galaxy SII's big brother (which is an amazing phone) and I would recommend that if you couldn't wait for the prime.

Ya, in regard to OP's Q, the Nexus Prime as tortuous just mentioned is supposed to be the shit.

I too was hoping to get the new iPhone but was very underwhelmed, I'm hoping Samsung delivers, I mainly dont see the point in getting a 3G phone when LTE is so blazingly fast and in so many markets on Verizon.

Just got my Galaxy S II today and dumped my iPhone. My plan had been up for renewal for a while and I was waiting to see if Apple did something to impress me before I decided on the new phone and when the 4S came out I grabbed the samsung instead. I LOVE IT. Bye bye iPhone.

Going from iphone to android was best decision of my life, never going back. I love my droid. It's duo core and runs apps faster then my old pc used too :D

^This.

Galaxy S 2 is the shit. Plus you don't have to use gayTunes.
Never going back to apple products.

what is this...a bunch 13 year old girls..

i have a 3g or a 3gs who knows...

know what it does.

make and receive calls.
send and receive text.
i can check my email.
and i can play apps.

i forgot i can surf the webs..

i thought only teenyboppers get all cushy for phones.

"I'm waiting for the iPhone 5". "I'm disappointed it wasn't an iPhone 5".
What the hell. What's in this 5 that you're so sad not to get? Teleportation? Mind control?

The move from 4 to 4S is far superior to the move from 3 to 4. This phone goes everywhere in the world now. Play 3D games 7 times faster. 1/2 second lag between higher-def pictures... and high enough quality to print glossies. 1080p HD video. And Siri. If Siri works it's a gamechanger that will put a massive dent in Google and start a mobile revolution that changes the iPhone from a smartphone to an assistant... it's gonna be your life and no other phone will have it. Shit, it could even teach you a foreign language by listening and correcting your pronunciation in the future.

Best of all it's in the same form case, and they just finished working out all the bugs that plagued the iPhone 4 case. Remember how long it took to make a white version? Last time they lost money because they couldn't get the 4's made error-free fast enough. This time they are going after the 90% of people who don't own a smartphone with an ultra fast, no glitches rollout. Pure profit. Wait to see their results for the next 2 quarters

Everything is amazing, and nobody is happy.
