If one receives a lot of money, for example $ 5000 dollars or more for first time. Nothing happens, do not retain the money. My account is verified and have more than 3 years with my paypal. Receive all that money from a cpa company, a reliable company nothing happens bad.

What.... I'll take a stab at this and just say Paypal may put the money on hold for a day or two. I've noticed an account that has a proven record does better.

The best thing to do if you are anticipating a spike in incoming money is to be proactive and talk to Paypal, call their support. They have really good support. Tell them what's going on BEFORE the money ever hits your account. If it's related to sales you are doing then have some links to show them, make sure everything looks very legit that you have terms and conditions etc posted. Should all be very above board. If it is a contract payment then sharing the contract with them is good, or invoices or whatever the source of the funds you are expecting.

We do this for all our product launches, we send them logins for our products and let them see our salespages, we tell them about the support we have for our customers (show them the helpdesk / live chat etc whatever we have) and we show them our refund policy and where the customers can see it. We give them a ballpark estimate of how much we are thinking should be coming in, give them a price list of what each product and upgrade costs. They don't ask for this stuff, we just send it to them after talking to support. It really helps, they will make notes on your account for you so you don't get flagged and if you do get flagged the fact that you came to them first can help you get your funds released.

We have never had any money held for more than 24 hours, even in new accounts and we have 4 paypal accounts in good standing and with plenty of volume. We teach our affiliates to do the same thing before launches, Paypal will really work with you if seem legit and friendly and you reach out to them before the money hits.

I have to agree with BabygotBacklink. We actually have a better experience with Paypal than with many of our merchant account providers, though dealing with them isn't horrible either since we know how the game is played.

I've had paypal close down accounts and hold my money for 6 months when doing over 40k in a month. I wouldn't recommend paypal if you're dealing with large amounts like that.

I highly recommend powerpay.biz for merchant accounts. They understand Internet marketing. They understand big launches and such. I've been working with them for years.

I use Powerpay for a dedicated merchant account and I use Paypal Website Payments Pro as well.

We just had Powerpay put one of our merchant accounts (we have 4 MIDs with them with 4 different e-commerce companies) on a 100% hold because of incompetence.

The underwriter approved our MID for $5k a month, when it was supposed to be approved for $50k a month. We asked them to fix this, and the underwriter did and confirmed we now have a cap of $50k a month.

Guess what happened next? 3 months later this idiot from their risk department named Todd said our merchant account was approved for $5k a month only and said we blew past our cap so he needs to place a 100% reserve on the merchant account. Then he asked to see our bank statements for the past 3 months.

We told him he was in fact wrong, and we showed him an email chain with the underwriter to prove it. Then he stopped responding and the MID is still on a 100% hold for the past 6 weeks. Since he's not responding after several emails, we now need to have our lawyer send a certified letter to force someone at Powerpay to respond.

Also I googled that Todd guy from the risk department and he's a drunk with a DUI who was working for Powerpay for only 3 months. I wouldn't be surprised if he was drunk while he was looking over our account.

This is more frustrating than any experience I had with Paypal, and we had Paypal hold money in a reserve account before but it comes with the territory and they've always released our money and have been responsive to us unlike Todd the tool at Powerpay.

To be fair to Powerpay, we didn't have this problem with any of our much older merchant accounts. It's only a recent merchant account that is having this issue, and a drunkard at their company is to blame.

Paypal will deduct a fee for this amount. And because PayPal is iffy with sudden changes in incoming amounts especially if one as large as $5000 then calling before the money is sent is the best way to go about it. It's a security thing. BabygotBacklink is right. :)

inb4 this thread starts ranking on the first page when searching for powerpay.

bluechinagroup sorry to hear you had this experience! I hope they fix this quick, keep us posted in this thread, maybe powerpay will jump in here and make some sense of it.

And nobody else at Powerpay will work with you either? That doesn't look good on the rest of that company (Powerpay) if they are just letting that stand as is. Also: Fuck Todd.

I have just one question now:

Is Powerpay a fraud?

I am sure we're going to eventually reach someone at Powerpay that'll fix this, but it's a pain in the ass.

Is Powerpay a fraud?

Nah. Just incompetent. Todd is pretty much a fraud though. He has no business working at risk.

I don't recommend you to get $5000 amount via PayPal. They will place an hold on your amount might be 21 days & then they verify the payment source & if they found little bit suspect of some money fraud you will lose your money...

If the sender use his paypal balance to send the $5k you wouldn't have any problem probably but if it's from their card be prepared to let paypal have it for a couple days or week .

If it is newly created account then it will be delivered after 21 days. If its an old account then paypal will hold your payment under 3 days review then it will be available for you very next day.

This is from my personal experience. If you're going to receive a very large sum of money that does not fit the the transaction history pattern of your account, you'd be safer to contact Paypal first and let them know how much and when you will receive the amount.

To be completely honest, I would still recommend Paypal only. They're the most recognized. Again, if you're expectign a large sudden transaction, contact them and let them know. They will actually leave a note on your account on their side to say this is expected.

I got my paypal account permanently limited years ago. I am so sad. I wonder if any of you knows anyone that works at paypal

it depend on which country your paypal account is associated with

i have friends who do big numbers in UK

here in Belgium, they killed 4 of my launches when we it a few thousands in a few hours,
and the support is located in Luxembourg, and you need a few days to have everything in place

a big no-no, when you buy traffic, it's like your service provider just backstabbed you

so i will never do a launch with Paypal Belgium, they don't care about small online entrepreneurs,
they don't understand what we do, and they are paranoiacs about fraud

my take on paypal

all the best
